Wanted to have a nice half hour ride on my welsh C this afternoon. He decided that we should go round like a blackpool donkey and make me do all the work!!!!! So over and hour and a quarter later we finally managed to get some decent work achieved! Wouldn't mind but I wasn't exactly asking him to climb to the moon ;D only wanted some decent transitions and walk steps for our dressage in a week and a half. I do sometimes wonder why we insist on having horses I am now shattered lol!

They do it on purpose ! When you've got all the time in the world and could ride for hours they go like a dream so you don't have anything to work on .You end up just having a short session because you want to finish on a good note and things couldn't get any better . When you're working to a tight schedule with limited time they go like donkeys and you end up just having a short session because if things get any worse you won't have time to sort them out . Horses -they may look innocent but they have a plan .

It the same trick the ones which can be tricky to load use - leave masses of time to load and they practically gallop up the ramp, leave late, they refuse to go near the ramp!

Who needs a gym membership when you have horses. The gym membership would probably be cheaper

I think just like us, they have their own agenda. The good days are when we both have the same one. Some days I head the the paddock the plan "right you doing some serious today, stretch you mind a bit" but I am quite certain he heads there thinking the same of me some days. He can be a pain hacking out, bouncing about at the slightest thing but makes me work my socks off to keep up and forward pace. There has been occasions when we have hacked out and I have not felt so well either upset or ill, strange how on those days he goes foot perfect leaving me feeling more like I have been a passenger not a rider never blinking at anything he would usually have a hissy fit at. There are far from daft aren't they.
