I have a 14.2 Connie who usually does Plaited WHP but he is purebred so I might have a go at doing some M and M WHP. Problem is he doesn't look very much like a Connie so I need some honest opinions to see if it's actually worth it!! He has and awesome jump so usually gets clears just think his conformation mark would be a total disaster!! Please tell me what you think (images should be below if they work)

I think you would be just fine, you can tell he's a connie :-)

Go for it. Quite a few judges like to see them slimmer especially in the workers.

Depends on the judge, some judges like the finer more quality type and there are judges who like the small, short coupled, deep old fashioned type and there are judges who wouldn't even notice the boxy feet, or know a good type if it knocked them over ;-) and there are superb conf; judges, either way you have to give it a go or you will never know. You will have so much fun with your pony especially in the M & M gold Cup and at the big shows where jumping is the name of the game.

I have a new forest and apparently coming from a performance line doesn't quite look like a new forest so we thought we would try M&M at local level to find everytime he got a clear he would win even against highlands, welshies and lovely ponies and it was because he got clear so his jump mark was probably the reason! Even got asked whether my 13.2hh was an exmoor!? Don't know where they got that from! She looked rather embarrassed when I said 'oh no he is a new forest!'

A few years ago we had a chestnut mare with a boxy foot and she missed out on qualifying for Search for a Star WH by 1 Mark! A good jumping and style and manners Mark will always make you hard to beat so I say go for it he looks a lovely boy with a great jumping technique and attitude.
Good luck xx

I had a New Forest that didn't really look like a New Forest compared to other New Forests in the M&M WHP classes but over the years I had some great results including a 3rd in the Open M&M at the BSPS champs. You usually do well if your pony consistently jump clear every time out. You have nothing to lose by going for it, if think that M&Ms will not suit your connie then you know for next time. Good Luck

If its a WHP at local level, and your pony is a purebred M&M then I would turn out as such - au naturel. If it is at any higher level theny out must plait, or enter a M&M WHP class.
