The doping of the Section B at Northern Horse was the worst thing to have been exposed this season. Last year there were several ponies who went home very sick from the NPS Show at Malvern. One missed Olympia and the owner of another found yew outside her pony's door one morning. Her pony never recovered. What is showing coming to?

I have had a T.B. mares mane and tail cut off, and her 6 wk. filly foal removed from her box and put into another stable on its own, where they dragged a 5 prong muck fork down the foal's body causing gaping wounds. These took 3 months to heal and then the foal went out and won everytime. I do not know to this day who did it, but must have been very jealous.

gadabout that is AWFUL. how could someone do that to a forl. This is disgusting. This is what i hate about showing the amount of jealousy. And what some competitors will do to try and win.

All i will say Emmajane is that our C stallion had to be taken home. So not only was a weeks stabling and a weeks entry fees for in hand and ridden lost, but he will never be stabled away again.

I have never stayed away, call me over catious but i always worry about tampering, settling in, and also possible infections carried on wooden stables. I used one at a event during the day when was young and stable was disgusting so put him back on box, he will happily stand on the box with food and water and good ventitalion, if hes standing for sometime, i will remove partitions and take him off for regular wee breaks.

about 4 years ago i had a pony on loan who was quite old i had him for around six months when someone went in his stable and poured petrol on him and set him alight i had so much trouble with the owner saying it was all my fault because i had pressed charges on a lad for fireing a firework at my horse which made me fall off and fracture my back it turned out it was nothing to do with me( i have to be very careful what i say) any waay he lived for a while in great agony until the day come he was eventually put to sleep from the day it happened i was never allowed to see the pony again even though it was nothing to do with me but its so easy to point the finger at someone else i still have bad dreams and am under a counciler to this day for the trama we went through i hpe the people sleep very well at night

Awww, Tess, that is just awful. What a poor pony and how traumatic for you. Grrr, little B******DS, (sorry for that) I wouldve done time if that happened to any of mine. We never share yards.
And the fact that another horse owner would cause damage to someone elses horse, well that is just appalling, they dont deserve to own animals if they can cause such distress just for a peice of ribbon.
Gadabout Im sorry what happened to your foalie and so happy that she made it through and to the showring.
Right, I ll stop now.

These people, and I use the term loosely, should be hung up to dry, and Overbent I love your solution , I just wish I could of been there to have witnessed said head being dragged through that small space

What a sick world we live in Yesterday on UK MSN was a story about a woman in America locked up for life for microwaving her baby and on the front page of the daily mail was a story about a woman who drowned her handicapped child

and we are a nation of animal lovers, I've some how lost the meaning of that saying.
I must say if I caught any-one abuseing my animals they would wish they were in hell, as it would be a safer place for them.

its surprising how vilant we all can become where animals and kids are concerned, and i too would agree on what overbent did and i know how i be if it was my animals, trouble is the law just dont do enough to stop the cruelty

I know quite a few people who sleep overnight in the stables with the horses for safety
I know for a fact Lynn Russell used to have her grooms sleep overnight with the cobs in their stables at HOYS to prevent them being injured or tampered with

A friend of mine used to have a farm and a friend of hers stayed with them and kept the horses together. The friend moved out found her own place and they were all still friends never fell out or anything. My frinds circumstances changes she sold the farm horses went on livery yards and she rented a field blah blah. They were all real good friends.
Then oneday she asked them to move some ponies one of which was in foal. They put them on the trailer, my friend went ahead to the field, ponies never arrived!!!!! The guy wouldnt answer his phone etc etc.... She called police who took statement and the norm. They went to see the guy and he said "yeah, Ive got her ponies but she aint having them back until she gives me £1200 I think it was" So the police told her this and said they had to go to the crown courts and find out hwat the exact laws were with regards to this and it was shocking!!!!!!
Because they were being held until something was done, thats fine!
They couldnt tell here where her ponies were BUT they could tell her where his were and she was told BY THE POLICE if she wanted to steel his until she gets hers back they would be ok.
They go back to old gypsy laws apparently. They also found out that if you steel a cow, providing u eat the whole cow in 24 hrs thats fine!!! Also if u find some land if u build a house and have a fire going under a roof by night fall thats ok too!!!!! How mad is that!!!!!

it's not fair that people can be so spit full. but what makes it worse is that it's a form of cruility to animals. they think that they are brillient pet owners but can do it so easily to somebody else. How would they feel is somebody did it to them. I would never leave my mare alone i would sleep wraped in one of her rugs under the hay rack. which the big softy loved she would ofter come to take a look to see if u where a sleep. if u where she would see if she could get to the mints in my pocket.

i'd sleep in my ponys stable, to make sure he's ok. he wouldn't mind he loves a fuss, he'd get a nice warm blanket. and i'd sleep right next to him.
And if anybody went anywhere near him i'd kill them! i love my pony to pieces! if they value there life as much as i do my pony dont f*** with him! laugh out loud!
