Thanks - Just had a quick look and cannot believe how much cheaper it is than PUK Summer champs - We are going to both this year and we are first timers at the NPS. The schedule looks good and they seem to do a lot for the kids as well. PUK should be ashamed to ask £27.50 a class from their members it is getting out of hand.

Just going to send off for the schedule as the printed ones off the internet have too many pages and I always lose the one I want. Anyone have any ideas how many stamps to stick on the SAE
They dont leave you much time to get entries in do they Schedule only available on 10th May and entries close 1st June.

Hi,
I am sure that the NPS will be sending the schedule out to members, it will probably be on our doormats tomorrow morning I imagine.
That gives 10 days to fill in and return entry forms - not that hard ??
You dont have to be a member to enter classes, but you do get cheaper entry if you are (which if you are entering a few classes is probably worth while). And as said, you do need to be member to do any finals for which you qualify for.
here are details on the entry costs for classes:-
ENTRY FEES: General Ridden Classes: Adult Showing Members £18.00 Standard Members/Non-Members £28.00
OLYMPIA qualifying Classes: Adult Showing Members £27.00 (Includes £5 entry charge)
In-Hand & Foal Classes: Adult Showing Members £18.00 Standard Members/Non-Members £28.00
Dressage: Adult Showing Members £12.00 Standard Members/Non Members £22.00
All HOYS qualifying Classes (includes a £9.00 HOYS Show contribution) Adult Showing Members £30.00 Standard/Non-Members £40.00
Ridden Pairs, Adult & Child, Fancy Dress, Junior In Hand and Young Handler Classes: £10.00 NPS In-Hand Finals £15.00 NPS Ridden Finals £20.00 Junior Classes held in Ring 1 on Wednesday 1st August Ponies ridden/handled by NPS Junior Member £5.00 Ponies ridden/handled by Non NPS Junior Member £10.00
Entries on the day £20.00 extra per class (with the exception of Pairs, Dressage, Foal, Fancy Dress, Young Handler, Junior In Hand, Adult & Child and all Junior Classes in Ring 1 on Wednesday where there will be no extra charge ).

printed out all the pages I needed last night, about 40 of them plus the stabling and entry forms, then b***er me, the real mcCoy turned up in the post today! Have noticed some confusing qualifiers and classes for my hunter and riding ponies though, so will now have to ring and clarify. Am well chuffed at the half price entries for showing members, can enter extra classes after the first entered ones for half price, what a result! PUKE could do well to take a leaf out of this book!!

What about the timetable!! Last year they gave all competitors a survey sheet with marks for all sorts of the championship show organisation & wanted opinions. The most that everyone complained about was the vague timetable but it looks the same if not worse this year. What do you think? What a waste of time asking everyone to send the surveys in when they haven't done anything about it. If you pay for entries you need to know clearly if any classes clash. Why don't they listen. Even PUK have an accurate timetable. There are classes I would like to enter but I can't tell whether they will be on at the same time.

Are you sure you are looking at the right timetable? The one I have has listed 'not before' times for each group of classes. Most definitely a huge improvement and a lot easier to work out times of classes! Did you want them to give you a specific time for each class???

So what if you are in the 7th class of the NFU Riddens with 11 sections? It starts at 8am & goes on nearly all day., how do I know how many will be in each section & when my class is on?A lot of shows do put specific times for classes actually.

How can the NPS possibly give start times for each class when they dont even know themselves how many entries there will be?!
Cant say I've ever been to a show that has a specific time for EACH class!

I do wish that the workers had a not before time, it would make things much easier for competitors and surely the judges.

Glad some of you agree with my views on the timetable. PUK have their championships from Tuesday till Saturday & they have a great timetable & maybe give or take 30 mins either way depending on entries but at least you can plan your entries for classes better. Also BSPS champs are the same.

I do think that NPS could do a little more than they have done with the timetable. Surely they could add a few "not before" times in, which correctly worked would not hamper the smooth running of the show but would at least give the competitors some guide line. A time guide might also generate more revenue, i cannot afford to enter classes which may clash & subsequently loose an entry fee, but would enter if i knew that i could get into both classes. With an extra £20 on the day entry i can't afford to wait & see what the entry numbers are either. It really would be the icing on the cake if we as members & the NPS Show committee could find a way to make the "timetable" workable for all.

However........................... they aren't that helpful because they aren't very consistent, there are only 4 "not before" times for 11 rings all day on Wednesday.

For everyones information. for a week of her annual leave and while you were competing, Sue Varlet spent most of her time at the NPS Champs trying to collate information to aid the planning of the timetable for this year, besides other things. It would be impossible to arrange the classes so that everyone is happy as members own such a variety of ponies. There will be a need for someone to do the job this year, for obvious reasons, so if anyone wants to apply please contact the NPS Office. I believe you will get a nice spot by the main arena, the hours are 8.00 - to very late, there is no pay but you get the satisfaction of helping your own Society. Before anyone jumps on my back this was answered as a freind of Sue not as a Council Member. PS this reply is not aimed at you Enthusiast you must keep your blood pressure down, PPS - I think my pony is going faster that yours, but I bet it will soon catch up!!!!!

Good old Sue, Mary, she will be missed at this years show she worked so hard last year.
I wish I could help but showing so many ponies I do not have time and filling Sue's feet will be some hard feat but i'm sure someone will kindly help with the smooth running of the show.
