shirt/tie/jacket combo

I have a mrs candy brown tweed with a faint orange and cream overcheck. The popular choice of shirt and tie seem to be white shirt and orange tie......however I dont want to follow the crowd!!

I have tried a burnt orange shirt underneath but it dont look right, not sure whether its the shirt or the tie that looked odd. So what would everyone else suggest?

I wear a cream Le Beau Cheval frilly collar shirt, with frilly cuffs, it looks really classy and I wear a scarf tied in a loose bow, that's for in hand showing..

Try a blue shirt underneath, do you have the orange tie? if not post a pic of your tie...?
