Well i finally gave in and got a new cat today, he has no name yet.He is a domestic short haired white and tabby and is over ten years old, his coat is matted,he has half of one ear missing, he grunts instead of purrs, and i wanted to cry when i saw him at work, we have had five strays in this week, but he really needed a home asap,we think he has had cat flu that was untreated hence the grunting and snuffling and is on antibiotics, despite his looks and living on the streets for a long time he is so very sweet and affectionate, his face reminded me of Bag puss, he looks so sad.I will post pics soon.

we too adopted an old cat...shes called hope and was the fattest hairiest moggy ever seen. As soon as I held her in my arms she put her head under my chin as if to say please take me home... she was 8 when we got her and the previous owners took her to the shelter as they were moving to spain (I would of took her with me!) anyway she settled in really well and is so adorable..best decision we made .... everybody seems to want the kittens for the cute factor...not us we love her to bits

sqidgetmidget, i work here as a receptionist www.roebuckvets.co.uk/index.htmlwe take in poorly strays and wildlife, we had about ten hedghogs in last week. ponymum we always get calls for kittens! We have decided to call him baggy (because he looks like bagpuss)I just new that he would not get re-homed because of the state he was in.I have been slowly groomimg him and getting the matts out, all he wants is fuss and cuddles and a lap to sleep on,but he does snore for England!

Well baggy the smelly old cat really settled in with us, although the dog was not amused and did try and eat the cat! Poor old boy was doing really well until a couple of weeks ago when he really dropped of weight and had d+ .It turns out he has hyperthyroidism AND is diabetic on top of being a chronic flu carrier! He has been soo sweet throughout and now he seems to be stabilised (he was insulin resistant to start with)So we make a fuss of the poor old bugger and take each day as it comes!

Bless you for giving him some love and comfort.
We've had our feral puss for nearly 12 months now and wouldn't want to be with out her even though she is still a bit of a tooth and claw job!

Thank you! he was in having a glucose curve done today, athough it was not so much a curve as a straight line!so his insulin dosage has to go up.The vet said "if it is to high a dose he may be wobbly on his feet and to feed him jam", and i replied "but he is already wobbly!" although the jam won`t do any harm to his teeth as he does not have any!ohh tell a lie he has one or two.I said to the vet "he is basically a walking disaster" and the vet agreed

Bless! We had a cat with hyperthyroidism, was on felimazole and it made a new cat of her, for about two years and then various other things started packing up and we lost her. Cost us a fortune though, and funnily enough she had to have all her teeth removed, she just had the few tiny ones at the front! If you struggle to find food he can eat, Aldi do the type in the foil trays which some varieties are the pate type and easy to eat with minimum chewing required! (I know the veterinary ones are ridiculously expensive).
