ok guys here's my problem my 14 hand trad is VERY VERY wet and we go through 3 bales of thoroughbred a week, we have tried deep litter and full muck out every day we cant be on straw due to mites even though id much prefer this as i hate shavings(been there tried that !)
what are your comments re nedz bed original and pro, duo bed or lay soft id rather have recommendations if possible as i'm sure many other have this problem too.
answers on a postcard !!!
thank you :-)

Never used thoroughbred so dont know what it is but could you mix in a small bag of the pellets dry so they soak up the wet or even just a small amounts where the horse wees

Rachelle our B was filthy on shaving but when i made a base with pellets and just had shaving over the top i managed on 1 bag of shavings a week The only thing i didnt like was that the pellets arent white so you dont have that crisp white bed anymore

No not nedz pellets. I get mine locally. They are heating fuel and work out at £2.30 for a 10kg bag.

I've been trialling sawdust under a bed of either chopped straw or shavings for a wet mare and I'm a convert - surprisingly not dusty and very easy to muck out. Doesn't seem to spread too much and it's very absorbent. Wee drains down to sawdust and leaves the shavings relatively clean with poo sat on top. We can get bags of shavings locally (North Wales) for £3.50 per bag delivered so its pretty economical.

I feel your pain!! My lot wait until they come in from the field and Just at the point where I am mixing feeds for them its like Niagra Falls!! One starts and the rest join in!!! Tried to put feeds in before they are brought in but that didnt work either! Seems the excitement of feed time is too much!! I can highly recommend the pellets tho!

i spoke to my supplier and they said the pellets from nedz are not treated so may still have an issue with mites they said to try nedz original mixed with my shavings so will try this ! did consider trying straw again but have backed out at the thought of mites its not worth putting him though that rather spend more on bedding and have a happy boy :-)

Have you tried sawdust? i use less bales a week with the sawdust in the middle of the bed even though the bales are smaller, i still use shavings on the bankings though

I use wheat straw pellets. Our entire stable now looks clean, fresh and has no bad smell. also the mucking is now much easier, because this bedding really absorbs a lot and I can change only the parts of bedding that are wet or dirty. Even wheat straw is considered to be classical bedding, which I was using for long years, it allows liquids to reach the bottom of the box and has bad smell, so wheat straw pellets works better in this case. No dust, no smell, wheat straw pellets made my routine much easier EDITED TO REMOVE BRAND NAME DUE TO ADVERTISING. IF YOU WANT TO ADVERTISE YOUR COMPANY PLEASE DO SO IN THE RELEVANT AREA. THANKS

I have used the nedz bed original and really like it, def worth trying, also used it mixed with shavings, but not used it on a really wet pony, comfy bed is really good for wet ponies it is shavings/woodchip mix, pro bed is also good
