Hi, I cant decide what would be the best reins for shows for lead rein for my daughter. half rubber? plaited? notched?
What does everyone else use for shows?

Plain brown English leather reins no notches or knots in reins, also must be joined with a buckle. Havana colour also acceptable. The lead must be all leather fixed to the nose band.

You can have little knots/notches in the reins??? I have very thin plain leather reins with asmall knots tied in each of them to stop her slipping them out her hands (seems to be the most common in lr classes)

I would say plaited havvana reins I don't see any problems with having a little knot on each side, especially in lead rein classes!

I would say use plain ones over plaited/rubber ones, and have a little knot on each rein, which IS acceptable in BSPS classes according to the rule book (providing it isn't one knot at the end of the reins!).

shoelace reins are best for lr if the jockey is only small, with a knot in each rein for them to hold in the right place. You can get them from fylde.

Agree with cuddles, shoelace reins are fab for lead reins, knot in each one so the jockey knows where to hold them and the knots are small enough for little hands to hold.

Thanks for all your comments! I got her some shoelace ones back in Feb when I asked this. I was obviously being a mean mother getting her to use my old plaited reins prior to that! Haha
