Equiform sell a "breathe easy" formula, you can either syringe or mix with food. It's fantastic, really strong menthol type product. Has worked a treat on our LR who always coughs after travelling. We also put vicks up her nose, which seems to help keep her breathing clear - hence no coughs!

You used to be able to buy a product called easacough, it was a bit like tar and you could spread it on the tongue or on the bit, it smelt of liquorish and was really good, any one know if you can still get it?

I think thats the stuff we used to buy HP, only it was called something like 'electury', have'nt seen it for years now, probably banned like just about everything else that worked a treat. Would love another tub myself if anyone knows of a supplier.

thats the stuff armada, it was brilliant but as you say its probabley been band by now Have googled it, and easacough, but found nought, another one resigned to the bin of 'old and time tested remedies' (but far too dangerous to be in the hands of the general populace)!! My Browns farriery recommends a dose of the following for chronic cough if you care to try it..... Digitalis 1/2 drachm Nitre 1 drachm Emetic Tartar 1/2 drachm made in the form of a ball with tar, failing that, a good old blister will do the trick apparently!!!!! The next section on 'malignant epidemic' is a joy to read, but I cant work out what complication its on about!! And regarding the thread on here about locked stifle, it goes into ecstacies over hock malformation. If you ever need a good laugh on a winters night, invest in a copy of this book.

We have our l/r pony's cough under control by wetting her hay (she also stopped when we started adding cider vinager to her feed), but always coughs when we arrive at shows.
