has anyone got any advice on how i can help keep my lower leg still whilst in trot, it looks like im constantly kicking my pony but im not!im not sure why im doing it, maybe stirrup length is too long?as i rise the lower leg swings out and as i sit it swings back in!very frustrating as ive seen it on a video....i also dont realise im doing it.

Ride bareback or with no stirrups to improve your seat.

I would also suggest no stirrups

Like other have said, no stirrups! You could also try really shortening your stirrups , just for short amounts of time. This will keep more weight in your heels and in theory stop the swinging .

Yup, no stirrups, lunge lessons and shortening them slightly. Also check fit of saddle - sometimes if a saddle moves forward a bit, it makes you lose your stability and your legs can swing as a result.

i used to have 2 lessons a week on the lunge on the flat and over fences with no stirrups for a year when i was a little girl (8yrs) i used to say to my mum why do i keeo having no stirrups and she always used to say because it builds your balance and legs up, and your lower leg will never move!! i still school mine once a week with no stirrups just because its habbit. NO STIRRUPS all the way!!!! xx
