Ring Ghillies transport and see if you can get a shared load?

You can e-mail about 40 transporters via www.horsetransportsearch.com and you will get quotes back from those who are able to carry out your journey. I don't have to tell you I am sure, but make sure you compare like for like, there are those that mass share for less and those who carry out dedicated loads for a little bit extra. It all depends what you expect for the money. Also sometimes a journey is split over two days or even over a week and other times the transporter will carry it out in the same day, some offer hay & water, others don't. Cheap isn't always best however cost will always be a deciding factor.

I can recommend Eric Gillie. They have transported ponies for me to and from Scotland. Lovely air sprung lorries. The drivers always arrive on time, they are very experienced and do take great care of the ponies. They have transported from lead reins to my Sec C stallion and all have travelled with no problems.
I have not compared prices, but peace of mind counts for a lot. Gillies always have an advert in H&H. Hope this helps.

I tend to use Gordon Hamilton from Aberdeen for any ponies to/from Scotland.

another Gordon Hamilton fan here have always found him really reasonable price wise (always the cheapest) and my horses always arrive in tip top condition and he keeps in contact on the journey too tell you if he is running early or late which I find helpful saves you waiting around.

I used the web site and its fantastic, i got emailed within a day about 10 quotes from 450 - 250 all inclusive from Kent to Notts about 400 miles, On the day i wanted in a small lorry, on long haul blese be aware you can save costs on shared loads BUT make sure your horse isnt going to be on a lorry for 16 + hours trekking all over the country. I want mine on a set date and have used sarah richardson equine express from the above web link and will report back after the 1st Dec
