So both my dogs have had sore ears this week! Just the right ones on both dogs (strange I know) Today was the first appointment that I could make so just made 1 appointment and took them both. The vet looked in ears which takes a few seconds then gave them sn anti inflam jab each and ear drops as they have ear infections :-( Went out to pay £85!!!!!!! Looked at the receipt and he's charged me a consultation for both dogs, one at £26 plus vat the other at £10 plus vat, 2 injections and 2 ear drops! Thought he might of at least only charged 1 consultation :-( or is that just me?

There is a cheaper vets about 20 minutes away but I don't trust them after what happened with our old dog (long story) I have used them for years thats why I thought he might only charge me 1 consultation :-(

To be honest I would expect to pay 2 consultations as you have the 2 dogs. I would say that price sounds about right, probably a bit cheaper than I would expect tbh.

Our vet is £30 just to walk in the door so your getting a good deal at £26. Good of them to drop the other to £10, could have been worse if you'd have paid £26 for each one. Hope their better soon.

To be fair my vets never charge me twice when they see two rabbits, only for one consultation because only one block of consulting time has been used. However I am sure that the letter of the law says we should pay for two. As for the actual £26, that is similar to ours, so is reasonable I would say.

I now use the dogs trust vets, they dont charge for consultation and if no medication is required there is is no charge at all you basically only pay for the medication needed. x

My dog went to the vets two weeks ago and was diagnosed with Cystitis - after a 5 min consultation and a prescription of antibiotics the bill came to £85.
We then had to take a water sample off her the next week and for them to test it we had to pay another £4

I understand vets bills can be alot more and I understand consultation fees ect ect BUT I knew there was something wrong with their ears, I wasn't walking through the door with no clue and the vet had to take the full 10 minute appointment time to find what was wrong. He literally looked in each ear and that was that. My vets reduce the consultation charge each time you go in, example £35 for first visit, £26 second visit, £18 third visit and £10 there after so for the little dog it would have been £10 even if I had gone on a different appointment as she has been to the vets more. For anything bigger they are both insured.

i work at a vets , we would charge 21 ,consultation , and the 2nd at a reduced rate . i highly recommend insuring all pets , then you dont have to worry about any bills. wow "yourhorse " a grand for a c section ! how big is the dog ? it usually costs around 350.
