Hi we are thinking of booking the Holiday inn express adjacent to showground, can you get on and off showground by the gate nearest the hotel? as I have heard they lock these gates, as we would be walkling, we need the quickest route. Does anyone have any comments of how convenient and logistics of ponies staying in red members stables parking lorry same area ? Thanks

The gates nearest to the Holiday Inn Express will be shut, unfortunately as there is too great a risk of horses escaping from this gate onto the Main Road if the gates are open (even if manned - it is difficult to shut the gates faster than a galloping horse can go!) Gate 3 will be open though, which is the Main entrance to the showground and is a short walk from the hotel.

Aw - go on - stay on site - it's much more fun .... ;-) ;D Getting a bit long in teeth, for roughing it in back of lorry, my old bones need a "power shower" and a comfy bed to recharge up for the next day, TBH it was the cappuccinos and ice machine that swung it, we still are setting up gazebo round WH 1 (space permitting) Looking forward to a great time and meeting up with all our "Equifest" Friends. xx

LOL - I know the feeling and I was in a tent last year! Blow up mattress decided to be "not so blown up" at around 2am on the first morning! Had to go and buy another one due to slow leak! Ouch my poor back!

We stayed in the hotel last year and had red members stable. its about a 25 min walk to the hotel from the stables we had. on the last day we ended up getting a taxi to our stables (was very tiring after 5 days) and cost us £3 - this year we are taking a car aswell as our horsebox
