My pony is usually fine with water trays but a few weeks ago one caught his eye at the last minute and he ducked out and I fell in it consequently making the water splash up in to his face and really scare him. Now whenever he sees one he goes mental and it seems like I've tried everything, jumping black buckets with water in and even black wheelbarrows but he still has a fit when there is one at a competition. I walked him over a blue one yesterday and he was perfectly fine so I am sure it is black ones he doesn't like. It may sound like I'm blaming it all on him but I have been doing some sport psychology so Its not me thats the problem anymore. I've had ponies with this problem before but it has never been this bad so if anybody know of any ways to gradually help him overcome his fear it would be great to hear

We had a similar incident some years ago when our pony stood in one and it flipped up scaring him. I bought a black tray from the garden centre and put it in his stable with hay in it, we then moved it about from field to school and even put it in the track from the field. It did take time but he did get over it. Finger crossed yours does too.

Do u have any black ones. If so turn him out in the arena with them laid our, slowly bring him over them in walk on a rope. Just school him round them till is happy, slowly bring them into being walked over ect
