last night 23.02.13, someone tried to steal my sisters ponies from a field on the A170 between Ayton and Scarborough, near to Betton Farm visitor centre. The ponies were found at 10pm last night in a neighbouring field and taken to a nearby riding stables. There were motorbike tracks and car and trailer tracks in their field, looked like they had been trying to round them up to load them. Thankfully one of them is terrified of men and the ponies obviously jumped out/escaped on the would-be thieves. There were no witnesses that we know of but anyone in our area please be vigilant. It has been reported to the police.

Also, tack was stolen from a friend's yard in the same area last week, 6 saddles and bridles along with a load of other bits and bobs - guessing it will be the same people targeting horses. Very worrying hence the time I'm on here! What A.holes they are!

Soph, did you get anywhere with the police? Our friendly police lady said to message her if you got fobbed off by, in her words, a townie copper. She knows the ward manager for that area and will put a word in his shell like.

Fingers crossed enough people have been informed for it to pass through the grapevine to whoever did it!

Another 10 horses let out of a field near Scarborough a few days ago, Raincliffe area. The horses had travelled miles before they were found.
There is either a moronic prankster on the loose or they are trying to steal. Police are aware.
Anyone in the area with horses out near roads, make sure your gates are well locked.
