Re Heritage rules
Do you have to be a member to compete in Heritage classes?
If you are registered as a member with other registered ponies can you compete in a Heritage class with a pony that is not registered with BSPS
Can you compete as a non member if you have no intention of entering champs should you qualify.
The rules are so confusing, I cant work them out

Not sure about Heritage classes as we have only done plaited BSPS stuff, but I do know that you can enter classes as a non member and if you qualify for Summer or Winter champs you have 7 days to join so that you can enter the champs, if you have never been a BSPS member (I presume that if you were once a member and your membership has lapsed, then you don't get these 7 days to join so I imagine the qualification is lost) If you are talking about entering local BSPS shows then I don't think you or the pony have to be members, the only time you need to join is if you are entering a HOYS class or want to enter the champs- please someone correct me if I'm wrong, its ages since I've looked at my BSPS rule book

I am actually a member at the present time but the pony isnt as it is a novice I just want to get out for some experience . Therefore as the exhibitor I am a member but the pony isnt. The rider is a member. I wont take up the qualification this year with him as not doing too much with him yet but hope I am ok to take him to this show as it is just down the road from us. So if I have no intention of doing the champs can I still enter or is it members only if you see what I mean

I should think you will be fine, we used to do the BSPS shows at Barton and Myerscough in Lancs and never got asked for our membership numbers.

Ye sthe pony could compete without being a member - but if you were to qualify for champs - the qualification would be invalid. But just to get out for experience etc - there is no need to register him
