I am fed up with reporters for showing magazines reporting the wrong information, especially showing world. One writer in particular seems to be getting it all wrong.
1. They have omitted a pony that qualified for Olympia in the Olympia report.- how upsetting must the owners be. It cant be difficult to get it right the correct list is on the NPS website.
2. They reported about a wrong M&M in the Hairy class at HOYs it was third and they gave another name.
I have also noticed that they seem to favour certain riders and omit other good riders. Has anyone else noticed this.

I get really annoyed by the poor spelling in showing world - does nobody proof read it??? Aaaah - I hate spelling mistakes, especially in names of Exhibits. This is often down to printers' errors in the catalogue. The bigger the Show the worse the mistakes. Mind you, there are quite a few Welsh prefixes which must be difficult to get right. I shouldn't think they'd have someone proof-read a catalogue - they wouldn't recognise any errors unless they were into showing and 'spell-check' would be next to useless; BUT they should definitely have a proof-reader for the Showing World mag. I'd love a job like that! H&H isn't much better. In the Horses for Sale pages they must literally print what they hear over the telephone - some typos are hilarious.

AS A SHOW SEC IF HALF THE EXHIBITORS SPELT THEIR OWN ANIMALS NAMES CORRECTLY MAYBE WE STAND A HOPE IN HELL OF ACTUALLY SPELLING THEM RIGHT OURSELVES, WE ONLY COPY FROM WHAT IS PUT ON PAPER AND WHAT WE CAN ACTUALLY READ, ADMITTDLY WE NOT PERFECT AND AN OCCASIONAL SLIP OF A FINGER ON A KEY BUT YOU TRUY AND READ SOME ENTRIES !!!!!!!!

Emma Jane - lurve the ad!!
On another point - I usually fill my forms in in block capitals, as my writing is not always perfect - I went to a show which shall remain nameless where they had managed to spell Lorna's name differently three times, the same with her parentage!!

why is there never enough room on the entry form, they ask for names of ponies ,sire and dam, with a little box to fit it in, but always a big box for class number.

Yes, I agree some entry forms don't nearly leave enough room for all the details. I have been doing ours (Old Berks) on A5, the same as the schedule and I must admit it is a bit squashed. Those which usually arrive by post beforehand are normally OK, it's the ones which are filled in by an over-wrought Mum with an impatient child beside her who wants to enter the class which has either just started or about to. You're lucky if they've actually put the name of the pony, let alone their number (it's in the lorry) and remembered to sign it. Unfortunately it's usually these late entries who win their class with an unreadable entry form and no phone number. Worse still, when it's time the following year to ask for their trophy back there's no where near enough information to tie them up with any other entry they may have made earlier. Then the fun begins ......... Shan't go down that road - I started the thread 'Non-returned cups/trophies' because of this very reason. I have asked my two secretaries on the day to insist on properly completed forms but it's nigh on impossible when there's a queue and everyone wants to enter like NOW! Who'd be a Show Secretary? We must all be mad, eh, Emmajane?

You have my sympathy (and a beautiful pony!) I couldn't believe that not only did they have the wrong name, but that they gave information relating to that wrong pony so it was more than a simple typo. I hope you get a good sized correction in the next issue - maybe you should push for a pic as well.

Guestless I think this person was talking about being omitted off of the Olympia list, I noticed this as well as I produce the pony that has been left off but I also thought it was disgusting how the wrong fell had been named as 3rd at hoys it must have been good press for the pony that didnt actually come 3rd and very upsetting for the one who was 3rd and not mentioned. oops the above was meant to look like this.

The reporter also left off a very famous pony who has always qualified at it's first attempt in her report. Same reporter only ever puts her favourites in.
