Taking our own (loan) pony to equifest this year, yeh! Have been going every year since 2010 and this will be the first year of taking our own pony. Deciding what classes to do, wont be able to stay and may only just do one day. Friends daughter and my daughter are going to do class/classes on our lovely pony. what are the equitation classes what do they entail. Not done anything like that before. friends daughter is the most beautiful rider so wondered if these classes might be good for her Ta! ;D

Sounds ideal. I am no expert, but the one Equitation class I did - everyone basically showed off their horse/ponies best moves. Ie, rein-back , serpentines, one handed canter, medium trots etc etc - just whatever your horse is good at

Equitation is judged on the rider, so serpentines and rein backs can look good if done well as it will show how well the rider can 'control' the horse. However you will not get marked down for doing a simple show, unless the judge has asked for anything specific- this could be sitting trot, trot serpentine, rein back, lengthened trot, and I have once been asked to go without stirrups (only if able to).
