Has anyone any tips?? My mare is to be shown lge RH classes and whilst everything is going well I'm worried that when someone different gets on she will go very tense, bridle lame and extremely short ( like she has done when I've let others ride her) .

Do a bit of research about judges before you enter under them - there are lots of excellent, confidence-giving judges out there (as well as the not-so!); think about the type of rider your horse goes better under e.g. male/female, size, etc and try to match up. I would enter novice classes whilst you are building up your horse's ride experience and go back to local shows, where she won't be ridden by the judge, for a couple of weeks as a break if she loses confidence. Think carefully about her bit if she tenses up with others on - we swapped from a double to a jointed rugby pelham for my sensitive mare some years ago and that helped. Good luck!

I agree with scruff definitely research your judges, but I would also say preparation at home would be most helpful in this instance. Get as many (capable) people to ride her at home as you can, to help her to get used to it. If she is reacting badly to a different jockey at home, with all the added pressure and distraction at a show, you cant expect her to give a great ride for a judge.
