We have shepherdess buckets for our orphan lambs - they are basically like a bain marie, to keep the milk warm, so the lambs have ad lib access to the milk to make it as close to being with a mother as possible, and it also makes it easier on us, and means less handling.
I was just wondering, out of interest, if anyone had used anything similar with foals - was thinking about what a struggle it is if you have to hand rear a foal, and how anything that made it easier would be great.

Louise, a friend of mine did this 2 or 3 years ago. It worked a treat ;D Added bonus was that the foal doesnt get as dependant on the human for its feeds, and you can put another horse in with them for the social side of things

Rockfield QH's did something similar a few years ago (may have been the calf equivalent?) Foal did very well.
