Hello, As a complete newcomer to this showing malarkey myself and pony have managed to qualify for Equifest - not expected and not something I have much of a clue about!! I've been on the Equifest website and have just a few questions: do I have to be a member of Equifest to attend the champs? is there any difference between pink and blue stabling (think we're only going for one night)? My entry and stabling form need to be in by 18th July? I've qualified for one class - can I just enter other classes that are not championship classes? Finally....we've qualified for the M&M Ridden class - he wore a snaffle when he qualified (in 2nd place) as he's a novice. Am I better to have him going in a pelham by August or will we not look out of place in a snaffle? Any other useful hints and tips for someone who has never really though about these sorts of things before. Thank you

You'll love equifest! You don't have to be a member to do any of the classes, but its cheaper if you're going to do a few classes. The blue and the pink stabling is in different areas, I would definitely book fairly soon though as the stables get booked up pretty quick. You can enter any other non championship class without qualifying. I think in the Equifest class, you'll find that most ponies will be in pelhams and doubles, but if your pony goes well and you're happy in a snaffle I wouldn't change it for the sake of one class. We always make a timetable (we stay for duration) it helps to be able to quickly see what time class is, which ring, which judge. We also laminate our number to stop it getting worn. Was really glad last year that we did because there was a monsoon on the first day. Have fun

Thanks All, can I book my stabling separately to my class entry - so get my stabling entry in now and then deliberate over which classes to enter a bit more?!

You just need to send one class entry in with your stable booking, then you can enter all your other classes later. Some classes fill up quite quickly as they limit then entries in them.

do I have to be a member of Equifest to attend the champs? no is there any difference between pink and blue stabling (think we're only going for one night)? only difference is location - see map ... www.equifest.org.uk/documents/Equifest%202012%20coloured%20plan.pdfMy entry and stabling form need to be in by 18th July? Get your entry and stable form in asap - even if you only enter one class and then enter more later on - you are only allowed to book a stable if you have sent at least one entry per horse off with stable booking. I've qualified for one class - can I just enter other classes that are not championship classes? Yes just enter them - you can do this as I said later on when you feel richer ;-) or even enter the day before when you get on site but if the class if full you might not be able to. Finally....we've qualified for the M&M Ridden class - he wore a snaffle when he qualified (in 2nd place) as he's a novice. Am I better to have him going in a pelham by August or will we not look out of place in a snaffle? Not sure about this one but if you take a look at the Equinational web site you could look up last year's classes and see what they are wearing. It is fab! Just like a big girls PC camp! Come and enjoy! I have already entered one class for each of mine and booked blue stables - got my numbers etc yesterday! Yay! Sooo bloody excited!

The year we took our boy he was 4 and we stuck to snaffle in all his classes. He won an open class and came 4th in the Equifest final behind 3 HOYS Open ponies. No complaints from anyone and the judges complimented the novice pony going beautifully in a snaffle, so if he goes well in snaffle then stick to it!
You'll love it, the evening performances are great! Good Luck
