Wondered if some could help me.
In the junior ridden are you expected to jump the jump from each direction? Also what is the best show to do to in corporate the jump?
Thanks Louise

In the champs you will be expected to jump. Its normally a small cross pole and you will be asked to incorporate it into your show normally in one direction. You can qualify for the finals in 2 ways. You either get your card signed at a CHAPs regional show in a specific Junior ridden class or if you are the highest placed junior in any other kind of CHAPs class you can ask the judge to sign your card too.

"The CHAPS (UK) Junior Ridden Child’s Supreme Pony of the Year. Contacts. Sponsored by Coloured The same rider/pony combination may only compete in ONE age category (14 years or under, or under 18 years); and may only qualify for ONE Junior Ridden Final per season; however, a rider may compete in more than one category providing it is with different exhibit(s). One exhibit may compete within the two age categories (providing it is the correct height) if it is ridden by two different riders who are of the correct ages. Qualifiers to include a cross pole fence; Finals to include a jump. Qualifying classes will be offered at the Regional shows as follows: Coloured Contacts Junior Ridden not exc 138cms. Open to Native, Cob, Traditional and Non-native exhibits, 4 years old or over, not exc 138cms, to be ridden by a child 14 years or under. Coloured Contacts Junior Ridden not exc 153cms. Open to Native, Cob, Traditional and Non-native type exhibits, 4 years old or over, not exceeding 153cms, to be ridden by a child UNDER 18 years of age. The classes will be marked on a mark sheet system and will be judged 60% ride, manners, temperament, suitability and partnership; 40% type and conformation. Two exhibits will qualify from each section, per show; highest placed eligible Non-Native and highest placed Native, Cob or Traditional exhibit, not already qualified, from the rosette placings. At the CHAPS Championships the CHAPS (UK) Coloured Contacts Junior Ridden Child’s Supreme Pony of the Year Final will be split into FOUR sections: Non-native not exc 138cms, riders 14 years or under; Native, Cob, Traditional types not exc 138cms, riders 14 years or under; Non-native not exc 153cms, riders UNDER 18 years of age; and Native, Cob, Traditional types not exc 153cms, riders UNDER 18 years."
Taken from the CHAPS(UK) members handbook. I understood that qualifying for this class could only be achieved by entering the qualifying classes at the Regional shows, as they include a jump?!

You can qualify for the CHAMPs if you are the highest place junior in any CHAPS qualifying class. Hence, not every competitor will have done a jump to qualify which is why some find it a problem to do the jump at the champs.

Do they expect you to show a extension in your show?

As far as I can remember the judges have asked to see an extension. They will tell the competitors what they want to see in the 'show', including the jump.
