Was selling a saddle on Ebay a few weeks ago on a 'buy it now or best offer basis' and accepted an offer close to what I wanted. Even better the lady wanted to pick it up so it saved me having to find a box and pack it safely......... Messaged her asking when she wanted to pick it up, giving her my details so she could ring me and arrange it. It did take a few messages from em before she actually rang me, suppose alarm bells should have been ringing by then. She said she was ill, so couldn't pick up that week, but was going to be in the area the following week. After a few conversations she arranged the date she was in the area, and I sent her my address and directions. I then messaged her again on the day making sure she was going to turn up, to which I had a phone call explaining she had got the dates wrong and it was the following day. No problem really as I was at home anyway. So the time when she was suppose to come came and went, and 3 hours later I still had no word from her, so I sent her another message asking if she was still coming.......... and guess what- never heard another word! I kept the saddle for her for 2 weeks, waiting for her to pick it up and was more than accommodating. I have obviously reported her to Ebay, but guess they are not really going to do much, just REALLY annoyed, people really should be more honest

Report for non-payment, so you don't lose the eBay fees, block the bidder and re-list the saddle. I am getting more than the usual number of non-paying bidders at the moment, but I think people are generally hard up, get carried away and buy stuff they can't really afford. Extremely annoying though

im having the opposite problem. I have recently bid on several items that I would definately have bought. When its got to the last hour or so of the auction all bids have been cancelled and the auction ended. These are the ads that say "advertised elsewhere so we reserve the right to end auction early". To me this means that they arent getting enough bids or money for their items so decide to end the auction. I have wasted days and days waiting for auctions to end only to lose out due to this. Ebay used to be a place to get a good bargain, now a lot of people seems to be wanting top dollar for stuff and arent prepared to take what they can get. Its really annoying!

I'm having a nightmare from a seller called Sarah Hughes from Leominster, I bought and paid for a n/s swales Pelham on 10th April, it never arrived so I opened up a case, waited ages so requested a refund as I purchased elsewhere. The bit then turned up, so I Spoke to eBay who said return it and get refund, which she eventually agreed to... Bearing in mind I send messages each day and get nothing back! Eventually got address abd have returned the bit on Monday special delivery next day, however surprise surprise no refund!
Message sent for second day with polite message asking to please refund my money! Grrrrrr
Happy to name and shame Because it is now getting ridiculous.

I've given up on ebay. I have several pairs of joddie boots, sizes 1 & 2, in excellent condition but which did not sell. I am not willing to take 99p - some have hardly been worn, so had reserves of £2-5 on them. I find it better selling through our tack shop or in the reception of the local riding school. Parents are quite happy to pay a fiver for some good boots that would cost £30 new. Some people are after brand spanking, new in box items for 99p, which is unrealistic. If I wanted to give them away, I'd send to charity or give to the riding school, as I have done with some of the less decent specimens!
So, if anyone wants good quality, basic joddie boots in sizes 1 & 2 (black or brown) please let me know!!

I have been trying to sell some long leather boots on eBay for ages, they cost me £180 brand new and have never been worn. I started the auction at £50, as I would be happy to accept that for them. But all I got were messages from downright cheeky begg@ars asking would I accept £20? One even offered me a tenner! All were told no, theyre brand new and never been worn. Some people want everything for nothing, especially at the moment!

I've got a stubben show saddle that I need to get rid of, but will NOT take silly money for it as I need to replace my current show saddle. No on, despite it being in near perfect condition, will even LOOK at it!

I got a pair of brand new leather boots for £40 off ebay last week. Sadly they don't fit but, at that price, I can simply try to sell them on and not feel I have wasted too much money on them.

I wish Id have bought mine for £40 haha! They dont fit and never will unfortunately, they fit fine round the ankle but are huge around the calf! I think £50 for a pair of brand new boots isnt too much to ask though? Ive just paid over £200 for my new pair which fit beautifully ;D So £50 in my eyes isnt too bad lol! I agree with everything you are saying about buyers wanting something for nothing!! I know we are living through a recession (though the government would have us believe otherwise) I now only buy within a 10 mile radius of where I live, contact the seller to see if I can collect, and if that is possible, I bid & collect. However, I do think Royal Mail has shot itself in the foot by putting up its charges for parcels so that sellers have to charge so much postage and people can't be bothered to organize their own couriers

I had the same problem with eBay selling. My saddle ended up sold 3 times before it finally got paid for and collected. The first person came and said 'oh it's too big!' The second just sent a message saying she didn't want it after all. The third one finally picked it up and loved it!!! It almost seemed normal for these people. They didn't seem to understand the rules of eBay!!!

I had a problem, not with E-bay, but with a seller.
I bought a rug at auction from them. The rug didn't arrive, so I contacted seller to ask when it might be arriving. She said she lived out in the middle of nowhere and it was too much hassle to go to post it specially for me, and she'd do it "in due course" when she had other stuff to post.
Rug still didn't arrive!!! So I contacted her again, and she then said that she hadn't actually sent it yet, but would do soon. Rug still didn't arrive, and so I opened a dispute on e-bay.
THEN I got a whole load of abuse from her, calling me a "sad bit*h" among other things, and saying that basically I'd stressed her out coz she'd got cancer and this was the last thing she needed plus she'd had a family crisis etc etc. She also told me that she was "blocking" me as a future bidder for anything of hers (as if I'd want to!!!). A very nasty piece of work basically, and as another friend said, yes OK she "had cancer" but surely if that was the case and she'd been in hospital, then why put the rug for sale in the first place??? It was obviously the wrong time to be putting stuff on e=bay, but I still couldn't help but feel sorry for the blimmin woman.
I did eventually get the rug....... but also got two more abusive e-mails from her.
E-bay did offer to refund me via the resolution centre; and then behold the rug arrived. However, as I was a newbie on e-bay I didn't find out how one could complain about the conduct of a member. It wasn't easy to find out how.

Agree with seanthesheep. I only sell locally and must be picked up so they can examine the item before they buy. Don't bother with anything else. Anything that doesn't sell goes to the horse charity for their equine boot fair.

I had been very lucky with e-bay as a seller until last summer. I had a catering trailer that I sold through e-bay and got the price I wanted which was a fair amount of money, then I sold some equipment, the first item the chap was really happy, said it was like new and he collected it, the second item which was hardly used, the people obviously had no idea what they had bought. I should have cancelled the transaction as they started asking questions after they had bought it. It was posted and was in working order, basically I got it back bust, and when its heavy duty equipment you really have to want to break it. Of course I refunded the money and paid postage, so I was down about £50. I always try and put a contact number on as if its a large expensive item people need to view, so I would put good pics on and a phone number and use it as an advert. The biggest time wasters are secondhand cars,I always put that the starting price is the reserve and when they do turn up do not take any s*** As a buyer I often contact the seller before the listing ends and ask about collection, by doing this I have had a couple of second chance offers at the price I wanted to pay. Facebook is a good place to sell locally, I have had loads of bargains off our local one. There also seems to be a lot of second hand tack sales this year, one or two a month. At least if you do not sell much you have had a day out.
