I have an ex racer who has qualified lots already this year and has walked on grass trotted up and down grass verges and very gently schooled on a cross country course!
What I haven't done but will be doing next week at great harwood is our first show on grass! Does anyone have any tips to keep attention etc? She will have never seen so many distractions and I'm a little worried how she will cope as although she isn't spooky as such but very alert! If anyone knows any good training tips they are very appreciated!!
Thanks!

You may find that the grass makes little difference at a first show, as like you've said above, there will be plenty of other distractions. Apart from keeping her relaxed, techniques such as inside bend (to reduce the chances of being spooked by something ring side), and leg-yield (but not infront of judge) may help keep her concentration. Good luck

Good luck This is a method my daughter uses in the ring with one of her sec D's that is a little too 'keen' in the go round when being shown. The judge can only see a 'snapshot' of what is happening in the ring so if you can distract your horse -leg yielding works best with ours - behind the judge you should be able to get it together by the time you come round to the front of the judge. Good luck and have fun
