As Title says really.
Does anybody have any experience of this?
I recently have brought a 17hh hunter mare and have since realised she has trouble turning in my 7.5t lorry. She loads fine but then gets stuck between the back wall and the tack locker as she turns ready to tie. I have loaded her without the partition and she is able to turn fine. Her previous owners travelled her in a 7.5 t box but it had no tack locker so she never had the problem before. She travels like a dream and what I am worried about is if I travel her without the partition then travelling maybe difficult or stressful for her.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated

I had this problem once with a very large horse so I moved the petition back about 18" - 2 foot and he then had more room to spread out and was fine. No petition was not an option for me as travelling a small pony at the back next to the back wings by the ramp. My box was partitioned for three 16 handers but just had the big horse up the front and the small pony in the back partition.

My 17hh hunter was always a poor traveller (always loaded easily & willingly though) - we used to use hired transport & to fit him in the partitions had to be quite far apart but this meant he was stalled like a banana & had too much room to move around - he needed longer partitions to give a steeper & narrower angle for him to stand in a proper straight line - old hunting box so no tack lockers back then.
He travelled much better in an old Beaufort trailer.
We travel mares & foals in one large area on a lorry with no problems - foal decides which way it needs to stand & mare gets crosstied & has plenty of room to decide who to stand.
The only thing you need to watch is that you're not using the wall separating the horse from any living area as these walls aren't usually built to take the weight of a horse, particularly if you have to stop suddenly.

In my experience any horse or pony travels better with plenty of room to stand in. I always traveled mares and foals with both loose, and I've had various animals that would only travel happily with a wider space than normal for their hindlegs.
