Can someone please clear up some confusion for me, in this years rule book it says in capital letters that there will be no final for the starter stakes this year. That's fine it wasn't very well supported last year so I can see why, however on the judges list for the summer champs they have judges listed for the starter stakes final! So do they or don't they?

i have contacted them re this. i 'qualified' at a show that was advertising the glass as a qualifier for the championships. i contacted them to be told they had decided not to hold it this year which is a real disappointment. i explained to them the show i had been to (and ive since found many others!) are still showing the class as a qualifying class. i have still not got a satisfactory answer from them on this as it was going to be discussed at a comittee meeting last week aparently and still have not heard back. i would suggest emailing them on the generic email on the nps website and asking. very upsetting to think you have qualified (especially at this grass roots level) to find out they arnt bothering with a championship class when many of the shows are telling you there is a championship !!

i can understand them not holding it as a final as it only had 13 ponies in all 3 sections last year which is a disappointment, maybe it ought to be a winter qualifier for spring festival finals?? just a thought

We would have loved to qualify our little section B but couldnt find any starter stakes. Once again this year with our connie we couldnt find any qualifiers and in the rule book it said no final but now it appears they are having a final on Thursday. At least there is a qualifier at the champs.

I would say that if there are people who would like to compete in the starter stakes, to let your local show secretaries now so that they can add it in to their schedules. If they dont know that people will support it, they wont run the class. At the NPS Summer Champs there will be a qualifying round and a final. So come along and support it
