What mouthpiece would you use to encourage a horse to work correctly, I ride him correctly and he goes lovely but is starting to become a bit cocky with his snaffle and needs to have some variety, thanks

I'd say a schooling issue rather than a bit one - is he getting bored of schooling and needs more different activities perhaps?

We mainly school on hacks so I wouldn't say he's really bored, he just takes advantage of the snaffle and can be very strong and lean, I have to get a new bit anyway so didn't want to get another snaffle if he's going to be the same

Anyone answering on here can only do their best on the information given. I'm a great believer in schooling on hacks!

If he's leaning on his snaffle have you tried a waterford or cherry roller type mouthpiece?

What is the actual mouthpiece on your snaffle?

Try short sessions in a loose ring Waterford if he has a tendency to lean - they are often tagged as severe bits but used correctly they can be very beneficial with horses that lean or grab the bit
