Started schooling my girl again, yesterday I were doing some school work in walk/trot and every so often she would stretch her neck down to the ground really pulling on my and chomping on the bit.
Now am not sure if she were just stretching or leaning? She is ridden in a fulmer snaffle with keepers on. Her teeth, physio side are all up to date so no problems. However I am waiting on her custom made saddle but the one I have fits her.

Ridden her tonight and she didn't do it as much. Wonder if it could be that she's just been introduced to work again and adjusting. She's not snatching them as does it slowly. Had a snatcher before and it was a nightmare.

If she's not fit and is being asked to work in an outline she will need to stretch the muscles from time to time, less so as she gets fitter, by working on a long rein for a few minutes every now and then - is this what she's trying to do do you think? If so try to allow her to stretch when you decide instead of it being when she wants.

Think you have hit the nail on head. She has only started working the past 3 weeks with a combination of lunging, walks in hand, a short hack and school work.
I start off on a long loose rein on both reins for 5 minutes before picking up the reins and she does stretch whilst on the loose rein and end on a loose rein. Yesterday I was prepared for the stretch in trot and didn't let her get away with it so she didn't try to do it as much. Must get her fitter as hoping to do my first ridden class in 2 weeks time. Thanks.

My youngster does this when he is tired from working correctly for a while.. As suggested above I work him and then let him/ask him to stretch. He will happily walk and trot with a lovely swinging stride with his nose on the floor for a few mins then collect back together. As he's strengthening up he doesn't need to do it as much or for as long I'd just make sure you ask her/let her rather than her just deciding when to do it. You'll recognise the signs for her wanting a stretch and a rest.

Thanks, she is getting better all the time with doing exactly what you have both said Did my first ridden class at show and she went lovely, was expecting her to stretch but didn't do it once. Think she were warmed up enough after all the inhand classes
