We had a mare who had to have three lots of sedative to have her teeth done and still kept putting her head up every time the vet came near with the rasp .

Sedation is often less effective of the horse is stressed before it being given and if there is a lot going on around the horse after its been given. Most effective on a calm horse and left alone in a calm environment afterwards for it to work

He was calm with just me and the vet and he knows us both well as we have delt woth him since we got him. we then left him for 40mins whilst we had a brew and he was still stood up and looking around. we have never had one that hasnt gone down so it was a bit wired. xx

the same as humans drugs work on us in different ways
I have had ponies that have not gone under and have had to have a different anesthetic
usually cut them standing up, including mature stallions unless there are complications
trust your boy is ok now

Adrenalin plays a huge part. I've had horses which have been pts on the racecourse which have taken three sometimes four goes as they are so wired they just won't drop.

He couldnt be done stood up as he would not stand still that was the orignal plan. so we decided to put him to sleep so no body got hurt! He is fine now after his last dose 10 mins later he was walking around and eating the vet said that he couldnt give him any more as if he would of done he would have put him to sleep propally x
