Im at war with the people on our yard! I cannot stand them any longer! I get bossed around, sent nasty texts for helping somebody else with her 4 horses. I get told off if im stroking my horse wrong (which i dont do!) or if i dont say hello to one of the women. Tonight i had just finished riding i got back to the yard and i was lying on my horse and then one of the woman came rushing over shouting 'Don't ever let me see you do that again!' A few months back, i was at school, somebody had left my horses stable door wide open and shavings all over the isle, 2 of the girls a little bit older than me, that are at my school saw me to prove it. I went to the yard after school and i got shouted at for coming up when nobody was there and messing the yard up, i was at school all day for gods sake! then i get told off for my horse running threw the fence no matter how many times i tell them my horse doesnt like being left alone! put him in with others he's fine! but no! in one ear out the other! and it's not just me my older friend asked if all 4 of her horses could go out all together, as there all used to it before they came to this yard, no no she wont have that for safety reasons! the b*tchyness! i cant stand anymore! anyone else have the same problems? I absolutley hate my yard!!!!!! the woman who's just another livery think she's yard manager! she's not at all! URGH! My parents pay £55+ a week for this! Having a horse is for enjoying them not everytime im up at the yard im constantly miserable!

Move yards if you dont like it, there are always people on a yard that are a pain, i keep myself to myself do my own and maybe other peoples when needed, i dont even go on holiday as dont thik its fair to ask anyone else to do my neddies. Its hard being a youngster on a yard i remeber being a teenager and blamed for lots of things, but head down do your stuff, and if you want to lie on YOUR OWN horse do it and if anyone says anything, point out its your horse you pay your livery and will do what you want within rules or reason !!

That sounds nasty at your old yard too. Why would you beat him up. Everything is all stupid. I've had to promise my friend i'll see how it goes for 2 weeks, if it's the same which im sure it will be, im off. I've been to look at another yard all ready. there's some more that are coming with me. So that'l be good for me and were getting the answer soon weather or not we can move there. Everything i ever wanted is at the yard, im hopefully moving to. Brilliant hacking, woodlands everything were planning on doing lots camping with horses etc. Its close to a showground. Staffordshire riding club which if i move to the yard i'll be hopefully joining. Im really looking forward to moving yards.

Oooh! youve' all scared me now. So looking forward to getting our pony next month. It's taken me ages to find a good yard, especially one that is prepared to accept children. Hoping it works out as I intend to keep myself to myself and not get involved with anyone. will mostly be there when everyone is hopefully at work or school. Feel so sorry for those that have had bad experiences owning a horse/pony is supposed to be fun, what's wrong with those other people. I just don't understand why people have to be so horrid!

I thought frontline was the stuff you put on cats and dogs to kill fleas - in all my years of horse owning have never needed to put it on a horse?

Some people use it on feathers for mites and lice. jemsyd I am sure that you probably feel that you are being bullied, but have you ever thought that as a young girl that these people are trying to help you, I have teenagers on my yard that think they know everything and are not happy if us older more experienced people offer advise.

I use frontline on the cobs gets rid of feather mites. They all get itchy heels and can rub raw without the odd dose of frontline - its magic!

All three of the vets I've had have prescribed it for my horse and his itchy feathers. Perfectly safe to use

Never had anything with a lot of feather so that explains why I've never needed it!!!

Lucky you!!! It gets them even when they are trimmed up for the show ring, basically anything with a lot of bone can be prone to it! I had an irish draught who had real quality bone no feather and he got it!

Nope, just a bit of mud fever on the one that wintered out and we used to use protocon ointment.

My vet suggested Frontline for a pony with an itchy mane and it worked.

Just wanted to add to the debate about Frontline on feathers - vets here in the South recommend it and it definately gets rid of mites and stops the hairies stamping their feet all the time which can cause more damage. Use the spray bottle!

Move!!!
I am on a very nice professional yard, EVERYBODY is friendly, no arguements etc.. its part/full/schooling/greass so NO DIYS
I dont think i could stand to be on a DIY yard! Problem is you've got the vet, the farrier, the saddlery, the backman all on one yard.. eveyrbody thinks they know best and insist they have to interfere. Thank god for the 'professional' yards so to speak where they is just a yard owner or head girl and what she or he says goes and nobody argues that!
On our yard, if you cause hassle your horse will be straight the front gate and you will be called to collect it!

Have to say, I had both my mares at full livery at a riding school/livery yard - and it was excellent, top class care, very knowledgeable YO with a wealth of experience and saved us a fortune on vet bills with minor things, yet wouldn't hesitate to call the vet if needed. All the horses were fed at the same times each day, so no banging doors etc, and your horse got the same hay/feed/stable size etc, that the owners horses did, and at a reasonable price too. You were expected to muck in and muck out when you were there, but if you couldn't make it you could trust them to do everything properly. Good yards are out there, you just need to find the right one for you.

Got fab news! found perfect yard. It's got a 100 acres, Were renting 10 acres off them, with use of menage, and jumping field at summer time, as sheep are in it at the moment. The couple that own it are lovely. In fact she used to ride for england. so it would be nice to get a few tips and tricks from her. Saying it's a working farm, it's beautifully looked after. All fields have no muck in them, lovley wood chipping menage. Amazing hacking, And amazingly cheap!! and! no liverys are on the yard apart from me and my three friends, but we are fine, we are not b*tchey people. I could have broke down into tears when she said we could come move up next weekend. I was like dancing all over the place! Soooooo much better than the current yard, and theres a vet on site well with his horses. hehe i can't wait!
New Year, New Start. Im a firm believer!

unfortunetley my dad's told me, im not allowed to move, and i have 2 choices sell my pony, or stay on this yard. I couldn't live without my pony, there's no way i could sell him im to atatched (cant spell) to him. So im staying. The yard owner has talked to my dad and said everyone should make an effort. He said to my dad that i should make an effort to try and fit in more, and my mum and dad should spend more time with me. and also horse riding lessons again every 2 weeks. im sure need them. I will get to see more of my mum and dad more if they stick to it. But i doubt it. I've had a good day kinda today, went to a local showground and did a 6 mile fun ride, we all enjoyed it very much, first time my squids travelled for 9+ months, he was perfect in trailor. Haha i got off half way round cause my squid was trotting funny obv was a stone in his shoe, as i dismounted my feet were that cold i couldn't feel them and so i landed on my back! haha everyone was in tears laughing there heads off.. Im sure im not gonna live that down. Luckily my friends camera was firmly in her pocket! hahahahahahaha. Picture's of funride will be along shortly. =]

Blimey, I have NEVER heard of frontlining a horse!!! Maybe you should check with your vet before putting it anywhere near your horse, that its safe and that they recommend you use it. I have only ever heard of a proper lice powder to put on horses. I am sure a quick phonecall to your vet would be a good idea? Alot of people i know and vet's said they use it on there own horses, or advise people to use it, Frontline is Perfectly Safe to use on cobsJemSyd[/u]
