Hi Ive newly aquired a lovely C and extremely nice D but both need at least doubleing in size whats best to feed them ? They are both 4 , go out on ok grazing daily, and are now backed and being schooled and hacked !! Please help ad I think the D is good enough to show at county but is not bulky enough xxx

4 is an awkward age-don't push it. Make sure they have been properly wormed with either panacur 5 day or equest pramox. Alpha A oil and a good balancer- Blue Chip Pro is wonderful but can balloon a native. Perhaps an ordinary balancer from Blue chip or top spec, alternatively Bailey's Outshine I have had good results with. If doing sufficient work you could add into this top spec conditioning cubes. Don't worry though, natives at 4 are quite different from when they get to 7 onwards, then you have the opposite problem...joy!

My sec D mare gets fat on air so keeping her from being fat is the issue.
As she has got older she has got bulkier naturally and personally I would prefer a thinner young animal to a fat one.
