Was the "tranporter" a person who runs a business or a "friend" doing a good turn? Sounds illegal if it was a business arrangement. How very sad.

I heard about this tradgedy from my husband who heard it from a work colleague who saw a burnt out Movano box on the M55. I wish he hadn't told me....but they broke down with a box just like my own...fairly new. It was a side loading box and when they stopped the box engine caught fire. Because they were on the hard shoulder....there would be no room to get the animals out....and horses burning to death just doesn't bear thinking about. I'm really quite anxious now about where to stop safely in an emergency so I can open my ramp on a motorway. Do I park with the box sticking out ?? It's just a terrible thought.
