doing pairs this year with my horse our first season out and not done any evening performances yet hoping to get through in the pairs
whats the best way to get my horse used to it without doing it ?

I'd get a cd, if possible and download clapping sounds or get all your friends to woop and cheer

Agree, get a good recording also play music loudly and get a voiceover like they have at equifest announcing the winners, best to have it all at once and play it loudly, and start it suddenly every now and then. If you can get to a spooky indoor arena or somewhere that has a commentator so your pony gets used to the different lighting and noises.
Also its easier if your pair is used to evening performances, at Lincoln the pony I was on was worried by the red arrows but was OK because the ponies either side were stood like rocks.
