Looking at tweed for an M&M class, the tweed in question is an alexander james blue herringbone (not dark navy) with a faint maroon overcheck. What are people's opinions on blue tweed; yes it's good to be different or no, better playing it safe with green or brown? Thank you

Ask for a sample and try it next to your horse :-) le beau cheval sent me all their samples when I was looking and I ended up choosing one is never thought of, it was great with sky blue and dark blue overcheck, matched my grey lovely

Yes! I've seen a blue one before and really liked it - it's different but looks really smart!

No! I've seen a lady riding at shows on her NF, and it completely takes it away! I know it's not about what you wear, but I believe you should stick to green, mustard, brown etc, I think blues just a SP or evening performance colour xx

I'm personally not a fan of a blue tweed on anything but a grey. But that's just my own opinion. If you love it and think it suits your horse then go for for it!

I agree, I'm not a fan.. However a light blue on a grey isn't too bad.

I love blue tweed, a lady on our circuit wears a blue tweed with a light blue check on a very 'orangey' chestnut section D and they really stand out - I always want a blue tweed when I see her!

I loved my light blue/grey tweed with gold overcheck with my liver chestnut mare.

I personally agree with welshiegirl and shelliewilson. I've made that mistake believe me. I did the pretty ponies pink tweed because 'I loved it' it looked fantastic on my coloured stallion but I can assure you the judges didn't and it affected my placings.
I've seen some nice blue tweeds again as mentioned above on greys but from personal experience. No.

Have to say I'm not on the bluetweed bandwagon, I've seen some people and it looks lovely but 99% of the time it just doesn't look right for me. Lije Em said ask for some samples and compare them with your pony :-)

Thanks everyone, have decided to go traditional brown - i came to the conclusion that standing out with a different tweed is fine, if you're really good - we're not therefore no need to stand out too much. Am in love with new brown tweed and am now on a tie hunt.

I was always up in the high placings in Ri flat classes. Think as long as its not in your face then why should a jacket affect your placing?
