Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the Riding Club pony classes?
Are the majority in snaffle or double bits?
Is the optional fence coloured or rustic?
And do you do a normal go round and show?
Thanks!! 2 weeks to go!!

Last year I did the riding club horse and there were horses in all different bits - lots had either snaffles or pelhams/doubles in though. The optional fence was rustic, but it anyone who didn't jump the fence last year wasn't placed, even though it said optional The go round was normal but they asked us to gallop/extend in the go round and I'm pretty sure they did in the ponies too. The show was a set one: walk away a few steps, trot left out to the edge on the diagonal, pick up canter right, jump the fence across the diagonal, canter left a few strides then trot walk halt back to the judge. The judge seemed to be looking for horses that would compete at riding club events rather than just a happy hacker - if you knocked the fence down you weren't placed and he liked to see them going in a good outline with good manners. The classes are big, or they were last year - I think there were about 30 in my class all shapes and sizes! Good luck

Thats great thanks for your help!! I was hoping for a coloured fence but sure my pony will think it's optional anyway! Looking forward to it!

They should be in a snaffle, the classes are usually massive, but we've been quite lucky, in the m&m class last year there were about 20 odd in it and we came 3rd:) All the ponies placed did a simple figure of eight show, including the jump.
