Whenever we have moved yards our pony doesnt eat very much of his hay/hayledge for about a week or two after we move. He doesn't show any other signs of stress and is just as chilled in the stable as normal, but when we go to equifest we're worried hes not going to eat very much and we dont want him to drop weight as he has before when we've moved him. We've tried him with fibre ready mash as a feed that he could have during the days to make sure hes still eating but he ddnt like it. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what we could give him. Hes currently on two feeds a day of Baileys No1, Speedy Beat and Alfa but we think the alfas making him itch so that will be changed to happy hoof. He'd still be having these two feeds but also want something he could have a large bucket-full to eat through the day.
And also are the training classes actual classes where you get placed or are they more like showing clinic type things? How much is hay and shavings to buy there?

Had this problem! Mine also left haylage and hard feed
However he loved the dried chopped grass so I'd always have a big sack of that with me and leave him a big bucket

Slobber Mash - I don't know anything that turns their nose up at it! We have a couple of ancients and a fussy TB and all of them eat with relish!

Have you tried ready grass? When our fell was younger he didn't keep weight on very well as he often wouldn't eat enough haylage and he loved the ready grass! Shavings/haylage are usually pretty expensive down, there we take our own Sent from my LT26i using proboards

Thanks everyone think we might give the slobber mash a go as he really likes soaked and sloppy feed, just hoping he'll surprise us and eat his hay like a good boy x
