Moderators, don't you think it would be wise to suspend the Tack etc selling and wanted categories on HG until this scammer is caught ... it is obviously unsafe for members to trade on these pages as the moment

Thank you As ever, on sites such as this, people entering into transactions do so at their OWN risk. It is up to members to satisfy themselves that any transactions they are engaged in are genuine and I think it would be a shame to let a con artist close down what is a busy section on this site. As Rockstar has said, if buyers use PayPal and do NOT use the "gift" option, then there is a bit of protection involved and sellers need to understand why a buyer may insist on using Paypal - even if it means adding on extra to cover charges, I think it is worth it. |

I also think it would be unfair to stop buying and selling on HG I for one would miss it I have had many bargains and sold items that are surplus to requirements, this person whoever she is needs stopping the only way is as said before by other HG's don't use bank transfer is she will not take no for an answer tell her to keep it no matter how much you want the item she is selling, she puts a price on an item to attract people to it, so come on now lets stop her, money is to hard earned to give away!!!!!

Hmmm. The Kent part doesn't seem to add up. Like Chloesmum I live not so far from Orpington and if this is the person who is selling showing saddles (amongst other things), it's a pretty niche thing to be selling if you know nothing about showing. My point being, I have been showing for years and you tend to know everyone in your local area, if this person is called Poppy Eastwood as she says, surely we would know who she is....? Or have I got the info wrong? There is also a girl called Poppy Eastwood from Lancashire who shows, I hope this poor girl is aware that her name, which is after all quite a unique name, is being used in connection with this scam, I would be mortified if that happened to me! I hope this gets resolved as making money is so difficult nowadays and it's outrageous that someone should be benefitting from something so unjust without being punished accordingly. She's defo from Kent her mum Sophie lives with her brother at 123 lovibonds ave her old address was 91 high street green st green and they even direcited me to lovibonds where I saw her brother who surprisingly matched a photo that poppy had on twitter. I have seen poppy in person myself and can verify the photos circulating are her she has 1 horse but unknown location of it she knows what costs alot and will do anythibg she can to get our money for her nasty little business and habit her ffull name is poppy Valentine Eastwood but uses lots more trust me I drove over 5hrs to find this cow I wasn't going without my info although it didn't do much good |

Update I have lodged a case with the National Fraud Acion Line I don't hold much hope however the ref number for my case concerning the concours outfit attempted fraud is NFRC130900375531 any further cases can be linked to this ref number basically the more links the bigger the case they now have her telephone number and a copy of the text conversation along with known aliases , please be vigilant but also keep this ref number to keep the link going .the national fraud action line number is 03001232040

X The accounts we are aware of have been suspended but, yes, she will be still able to read this thread. What do you suggest - surely there is a greater risk if we delete the thread and let her carry on without making sure as many members are aware as possible? |

Well I thought that surely after seeing this she would stop... Is there not an option where you can block her IP address so she can't just keep creating new names? She literally has no shame!
Out of interest I set up a fake wanted ad for a flyde saddle, and sure enough she is texting me now about it.. With the number posted on this thread!! How does she have the bare faced cheek?!
If she is reading this thread and seeing her number is being posted about to warn people , you'd have thought she would change her number?

Well this thread has now been circulated and seen by many on facebook also. If everyone can do the same, keep sharing and spreading the word then hopefully she won't be able to scam as many people.
So poppy eastwood or whatever your reall name may be, be warned you will be caught eventually and I hope you get a lengthy prison sentence!!!

Well done you ,mygingeisthebest, I applaud you for letting her know that you'd sussed exactly who and what she was - pity the Police etc can't seem to manage the same!
The HG's on here are better at detective work than Bromley CID could ever be, even if it was tattooed on their foreheads, hence why she is laughing at them all.
I think we should all place fake wanted ads for the usual stuff to waste her time and phone bills and each time at the vey end we let her know that she's been sussed, if every one she has ever scammed did this to her then she'd soon realise that it is more trouble than it is now worth and give up eventually.
What do you all reckon fellow victims? Anyone else up for joining the thousand or so people she's scammed by doing just this and at least making her life a misery and who knows what info may be gleaned from it, hopefully enough to get her banged up.

This is far too organised to be the work of one person, my guess is IP addresses will change (not hard to do) and possibly account details too
Personally I would advice anyone to only buy/sell to people with a paypal account or cash on collection/delivery

Trouble is to be a good liar, you have to have an exceptionally good memory, otherwise you will soon be caught out and it does appear that things are starting to catch up with her, bit by bit.
It will all come unstuck eventually, no thanks to the banks involved or the Police, both of who are worse than useless.

That was the advert I replied to about rugs for sale and then she emailed me from that . It is possible she might of just taken the email address off my reply so I apologise if that's the case but as I have already been scammed by Poppy Eastwood I would rather air on the side of caution! I think that is likely the case. Can I suggest members make use of the messaging service on the site rather than freely giving out their email address. If you pass emails on privately, then she won't have access to the details unless she manages to create another account. |

Be careful everybody, might not be same girl but I was sat with my friend last night and she was looking on fb and a girl was warning everbody that sonebody was claiming to be her and using her pictures off fb of her on her pony in a concours dress (for sale ridiculously cheap obviously) and the mother of the apparent girl rang and said so your name is ...... and girl said yes, and mother then said well thats my daughter and phone was hung up! I will find out the name she used and repost later! Set your fb to private ladies xxx

MODS for people that haven't read this thread, are you able to pm members and advice everyone not to list their email addresses on threads and all contact to be made by pm and only pay through PayPal sales???
I saw two people post their email addresses on a thread about saddles a few days ago so posted a message on the thread to be careful about doing so.
Posting fake wanted adds is going to nothing except upset genuine buyers. People just need to protect themselves when buying and then people can't scam you!

Well natlee I am currently living in Green St Green whilst our house is being rebuild and tbh I don't know of a High Street, the main road is Sevenoaks Rd so that may be a false address. The only High Street would be Orpington High Street. However I do know Lovibonds and think I might well take a drive past and take a look.
As teacups said I don't think this person is actually a showing person, I have never heard of her and I have been showing in this area for 50 or so years all told and was Secretary for the local Pony Club, I think she is just a horrible con artist who has some knowledge of horses and is using this to earn easy money.
It is not hard to learn about showing saddles and other stufffrom just reading through wanted ads. It would be great if someone could post a picture but I guess that would be illegal!! Do you know what she looks like? I also wonder where she keeps her horse (if she really does have one)it must be some type of livery yard around here I guess as there would be no facilities where she is living.

If you have facebook there is a page on there named 'scammed by poppy Eastwood' there are pictures pulled from her twitter account on there, also people who know her have confirmed that the pictures are her x |

I don't think it would be illegal to post a picture and under the circumstances I think it would be more than justified, I mean if police can't be bothered to pursue someone who is conning thousands out of innocent people then what chance is there they will give a sh1t about a picture of a con artist on a horsey forum! I know when there were bad people buying ponies from sales their pictures were posted all over the Internet to warn people not to sell to them so I personally don't see any harm and if anyone can get a photo of her then email it to me because il post it everywhere!!! |
