My 4 yr old has just thrown a splint. Fairly large and rock hard. He is not lame. Not keen on getting vet out and paying him £75 to say box rest and bute. Has anyone got any good remedies please?

Box rest and splintex initially (3 days on 2 off). Fylde supply it. Shave off hair on splint to ensure splintex gets absorbed. Never heard of using bute - does this help?

splintex got rid of a massive one, one of my horses had as a youngster. Good stuff dont know if they are easier to get rid of if they are younger and so the bone is softer?? Didnt rest mine kept working and turning him out but not saying that was "correct". Worked for me though!

Splintex gold from Fylde Saddlery and a magnetic boot usually works well.
You could also try lazer treatment.

i used splintex gold religiously and spent alot of time worrying about it, my mare then had a ligament problem so bought a magnetic wrap off ebay, hadnt thought about her splint for ages then the other day i felt and it has near enough gone and isnt visible, it was a whopper aswell.

Goose fat works a treat, just rub it into the leg twice a day.

Friends(4yo) pony threw a splint 2 weeks ago, god knows how it got it - only turned out in manage for short periods due to freezing conditions. However when we noticed it it was still warm but hard - and quite big. Friend beside herself!! Used Splintex gold as per instructions on bottle (shaved off hair to ensure maximum absorbsion), also used magnetic boots and box rest. TODAY ALMOST DISAPPEARED. Can still feel it - but massive improvement. Friend Ecstatic!! Can't really believe it myself - but we must have picked it up on the day it happened.
