I am attending HOYS on the Saturday. I haven't been to HOYS since Wembley in 1993 so am really looking forward to the day. Just have a few queries you might be able to help me with:
1. How much is it to gain entry to the show? I plan to spend most of the day watching the show ponies, intermediates and minis in the Caldene arena so I don't require a ticket for the International Arena. Do I need to buy a ticket for seating at the Caldene Arena?
2. I'm flying in to Birmingham arriving at 7.30am - From what I've read there's a free shuttle bus to the railway station beside the show and only takes 1.5minutes. If this is true I'll be thrilled as I'd love to catch the end of the 128cm show ponies which start at 7am. Do the classes generally run to the timetable schedule times?
3. Can I take pics on my phone. I presume no flash photography but is it ok to take pics of the ponies?
Really excited. Best of luck to everyone competing this year.

1. You can't buy a ticket just for the Caldene Arena, as far as I know, so you'll have to buy one for the International Arena, which may set you back a fair bit - annoying, if you're not planning on sitting in your seat for long! Check availability of different priced seating by phoning the box office; don't rely on the website which is not as up to date. Once you have your ticket, you can sit anywhere you like in the Caldene Arena. 2. Classes will definitely run to scheduled times. 3. No problem taking any pics at all, in my experience. Have fun!

Hi you will love it that is providing you can get a ticket, they are on sale on the internet, dont know if you can get on the day,we go ours months ago. The tickets are for the international seats so i would get the cheap seats up in gods, you cant get caldene only. Sorry dont know about transport as we drive down. They say no photograph but there plenty of cameras to be seen, i take mine.

Thanks for your reply sparkysunny. Was hoping I could just buy some kind of general admission ticket seeing as I'm not going to the International Arena but I've just checked the website and the cheapest International Arena ticket is £28 so I suppose I could buy that. Won't be around for the evening as will have to be back in the airport at 7pm. I don't mind paying £28 for a day at the Caldene Arena.
I will phone the boxoffice as I agree, the website doesn't seem to be very up to date. The info on tickets etc. is poor. For example, it doesn't clarify who qualifies for 'concession tickets'.
Great to hear I can take pics!

Thanks sjm and larkhaven for your replies.
I'm so glad I posted as I really think I may have just turned up on Saturday morning looking for a ticket. Would have been so disappointing considering I'm flying to the show. I know this may sound obvious to regular visitors but the website really needs to be more clear on the necessity of purchasing an International Arena ticket.
Anyway, I've now booked a ticket for the International Arena. The cheapest tickets are sold out so it cost £42.00 but glad I've it booked now.
Can't wait!

Just check about tickets as I definitely read that Saturday eve tickets had sold out. Please phone and check day tickets are still available lg arena start at £28. Tickets give u a seat (location dependant on price £28, 39.50, 50 plus) in the lg arena, you get access to shopping and any seat in the Caldene arena hope you have a great day x

from the airport, take the shuttle bus to the train station, come out of the train station and continue forward away from station and go with the flow of traffic there is a tunnel on you left which goes under the train track which then gets you into hoys . it is the way that the ponies have to go to access the caldene arena but you do get checked for tickets/ wristbands so if you dint have your ticket on you allow time to be pushed back around to the box office to get it and this is miles away the other side .
