I've been using Lister Star clippers for the past couple of years and most of my ponies are fine with them. However, I have one pony who hates the noise they make - she will let me use them on her quarters but won't let me near her front with them when they are switched on. She ended up having to get sedated last year and I tried her again today and she was just as bad, although she stood quietly next to my gelding as he was fully clipped. I reckon by the time I pay for her to be sedated a few times, I would be as well to look at new clippers - it wouldn't do any harm to have two sets anyway as it means we could be clipping two at once, lol! Can anyone recommend clippers which are quite quiet? I see that some of them you don't have to bother with tensioning either - doing away with that would be good as it can be such a faff getting it right.

I've been told that lister neon and liveryman harmony are nice quiet clippers, I haven't heard them ' in person' though! I'd be interested to know which are really quiet, but not sure that's the reason my boy is naughty to clip, I wonder if there are any non tickle clippers!!?

My clippers are very quiet as ordered them from the Scamming witch Poppy Eastwood so never arrived! Anyway I ordered the Harmony liveryman ones as my mare at the age of 23 always been intravenous sedated plus twitch and vet site for clipping. I actually managed after 11 yrs to get small trimmers on her around face and legs with no issue at all so been advised on Harmony liveryman ones too as quiet and low vibration but need to clip before too hairy I imagine as not heavy duty for hairy ones! Hope that helps. If you go 2nd hand use paypal or in person. Don't get caught out as I now can't afford to buy any after being scammed!x

Be best to stay away from Wolseley as they are all on the noisy side as quite industrial - liveryman element are a small trimmer but capable of doing full clips, just a little time consuming as the blades are only half the width of big clippers but I was suprised at the strength of them

The Lister Star is the updated Neon (which I had previously) so they're definitely no particularly quiet. Will have a look at Harmony model though. I've got the Liveryman Element trimmer - would take me days to clip a Fell pony with it although it is good for tidying up lines. Thanks everyone.
