Im looking at taking my mobile tack stand to shows in and around my local area. Im a independant Saddle Fitter, so will obviously take a range of my saddles & matching QUALITY, English leather accessories.
This is my first question are people after QUALITY, English leather, such as, a Soft padded shaped girth at £90 or Non stretch, nylon cored Stirrup leathers at £45. Or are you more likely to buy imported leather girths, stireup leathers, bridles etc... at a much reduced cost?
Also, i thought of making up some compete show grooming kits, with a wicker basket. For example comprising of; Shampoo Coat sheen Hoof oil Mane & tail or Easy plait Make up Highlighter gel Plaiting thread & bands A small selection of brushes Sponge & cactus cloth + the wicker basket. For around the £40/45 mark depending on what was included. (Lots more products could be added or swapped for something else)??
And finally, what else would people like to see on a tack stall at a show?
Many thanks

I like the idea of the grooming kit plus individually to cover what you forget/spill/lose. But got to be honest I probably wouldnt look for tack at a show unless it was a bargain price ....sorry!!!!
Silly things we run for at shows usually for the rider...button holes, jodhpurs (due to hoof oil explosion), hairnets, tie (forgotten), boot cleaning kit, sewing kit, white girth for us (again covering hoof oil explosion), jodhpur boot clips
Silly stuff really...but love the idea of the grooming kit in a wicker basket
Good luck xxx

Thank you maxandpaddy. Sounds like you could do with some solid hoof oil! I must agree with you about buying tack at a show, however it will raise awareness of what i do. Thinking of making up some show baskets for Christmas. X

Quality English leather - showing style (ie, not diamanté bling, headcollars, reins, lead reins, stirrup leathers etc) Chalk, hoof prep, hoofoil brush, coat shine, fly spray, bucket, tail bandages, show numnahs, number elastic, gloves... Basically, the things you either forget, get broken at the show, or you can treat yourself to as part of a day out!!!

I do stannds at shows with my saddlery... people always want what you havnt got lol we usually find people running in for girths, joddy clips, hoof oil, coat shine, mane & tail, stain remover, buckets etc etc. we also find that haynets sell well if priced good... we also take a bale of hay with us & some cheaper nets and sell filled haynets for £4 - you will be surpsed how many people run out of hay at a show ;-) Chalk blocks & powder is a must it flys out good luck with your trade stand :-)

Quality leather would be good for a special treat maybe following a win :-) As before things you forget / break / run out of, additional items lead ropes, fly spray, sun cream (if we are lucky), bottled water?, love the hay filled nets suggestion.

You know what I've seen break at shows quite alot, the rubber on safety stirruos so deffo some of those and headcollars. Showing whips and if there is evening performances stocks. Tie/collar pins and little things that are easily lost like hoof picks, combs, quater marking combs and of course all the sprays. Cotton, plaiting bands, plaiting up needles (the chunky ones) and unpickers. Spurs and straps are also easily forgotton, also a selection of grooming hats. I'd also always keep first aid things just incase as it's amazing the ammount of people that don't take anything.

I've just had another thought, bits of ribbon (red, green white etc) for if you forget your warning ribbon or armband! I went into the ring the other weekend with 2 baby wipes tied together as an armband!

Stirrups, stirrup leathers, stirrup rubber and attachments. Grooming items for T+T. Plaiting thread and needles. Girths but prob just cheaper ones as kind of thing I would forget! Lol. Gloves for both adults and kids. Also agree with all others.
