Quick question about handler turnout for showing a riding pony inhand...
It seems, from what I've read, that I am expected to wear a tweed jacket. My question is do I have to? I don't want to wear tweed. The turnout I'm thinking along the lines of is similar to lead rein show pony turnout. I want to either wear a suit or a jacket and trousers/skirt with a hat. Will I get away with this? I've had enough of tweed from showing natives, and I was really looking forward to being a little smarter.
Also, I know bowlers are usually worn by men, but is there any set rule that says I can't wear a bowler with a smart trouser suit? I have a lovely little bowler and I've been looking for an excuse to wear it.

I am a bit of a traditionalist and always wear tweed for RP in hand, but wear a shirt and tie which match the pony's browband. I wear a blue beagler hat with my hair tied back, navy moleskins and brown gloves. I think this looks smart.
I have a friend who also shows RP youngstock, most of her browbands have a very dark pink colour and she actually wears a pair of Joules very dark pink moleskins with a dark pink tie, blue shirt and dark blue tweed.
But - there are no really hard see rules on handler turnout! they are supposed to be judging the pony not you!!

Ditto above advice, always a tweed jacket, or if its really warm weather, i wear a navy gilet instead, looks just as smart. Also always wear oposite colour trousers to the colour of your ponies legs, heres a few examples: & with the gilit (i know its with a welshie, but i have worn it with raw silk at county leel it looks very smart!) here you are,yo can just see it: hope these hep a bit!! If you ever need a browbad making let me know!! I do all my own!!
