I have a small hack that has started getting hold of the bit, on 1side but not always the same. He resists any bit of contact and throws his head in the air and runs off through it.
I have had his back checked by Mark Windsor and his teeth done every 6months and everything as it should be.
Can anyone suggest any bits that might help with this?
Thanks in advance

waterford mouthpiece is designed so they cant get hold of the bit, you could get this as a loose ring snaffle or wilkie snaffle so you have a bit of poll pressure if needed? Short of that perhaps try a flash so he cant get his mouth open to clamp hold of the bit. I would just be worried about over bitting if he doesnt like to take the contact. Use a martingale to stop him throwing his head up and perhaps work on the pessoa to get him working long and low and encourage him to take the bit. Is the bit you are using jointed? He might perfer a bit with a lozenge. Unfortunatly there is no quick easy answer just trial and error i'm afriad. I had a part bred that i tried about 100 bits in as he hated to ride into the contact, it did turn out he needed an op on his back and two physios had said his back was ok

how old is he? is he newly backed? you may be best going back to long reining and working on the pessoa to get him to use the contact and to go into it correctly and not run through it.

He is 7yrs and backed at 3/4yrs.
He has done this before and I changed his Bradoon and it made a huge difference, I may try one with a lozenge.

Thanks for the advice, I have tried the long reining and Pessoa and changed his bit to the NS trans lozenge and he has been like a different horse. Defiantly recommend it
