It shouldn't make a jot of difference. As long as you are sensibly and smartly turned out, that should be quite sufficient. If the judge is more concerned about what you're wearing than the way of going and conformation of the pony, he/she should be ashamed of him/herself, IMO!!!

Could you find a smart cardigan in appropriate colour that you could wear? You can pick them up very cheap in supermarkets etc. and something you can use afterwards as well. Won't make any difference if you don't have matching jackets but I don't like to see leaders without jackets in daytime classes.

I agree with tabbyx doesn't have to be matching but I prefer to see leaders with jackets on. This is just IMO though.
