Have bought this gorgeous suede show saddle for our new lead rein pony which we are getting soon. How should we clean it as suede is a bit worn down? Was new but had obviously sat in stock room for a while.

This isn't really advise on how to clean it, but more how to prevent anymore wear. I have had my suede show saddle for about 6 years, its the only saddle i ever used on my pony and was made to measure so was very expensive. To prevent from wear in the usual places i used a waterproof saddle cover, and only ever took it off on the day of the show. Even now the only wear it has is just at the top where the stirrup leathers go. So i would highly recomend a saddle cover to stop anymore wear. Don't know if that's of any help.

fylde saddlery do ride on fluffy saddle covers for suede saddles you will need to buy new leathers and just use a cream cleaner no oil they always get a bitt flat where the leatheres go but i find a soft dry nail brush is the best thing for buffing . clean the leather parts as normal

stop worrying about it and enjoy it dont worry about wear and tear marks on it it adds charm . No judge likes to see new tack on horses or ponies ( looks amateurish ) x x

We use a suede brush on our saddle and it works really well, we were also told nt to use oil on the stirrup leathers, use dubbin instead as the oil makes the suede wear quicker on the flaps.
