I am looking to put one of our mares in foal next year, possibly the year after. I'm stumped as to what to put her to! She is around the 15.1/2 mark, welsh x friesian. She has a beautiful head and fantastic hock action. I am looking for something to complement her. Whatever she has will be kept as she I a very special mare and looking to have another piece of her for when she goes! Any ideas as what to put her to?

Well firstly you need to decide what type you want the foal to be, e.g. To jump, all rounder, middleweight, coloured etc, and then you can look at stallions

I've been thinking a native/traditional type coloured, but open to suggestions.

I can only speak for mine - but my fillys sire is 14.2hh coloured/traidional stallion My filly has a fab temprament (like her dad), very quick learner and a sweet person - she should make around 15.1hh (mares 16hh )!. I dont know where abouts your are? but i know of several of his stock and each have turned out very well www.stallionsonline.co.uk/stallion_30216.htmli can post pic of my filly if your are interested

I have a nice stallion but he is homozygous so unless you definitely want patches he is no good. He has never been used on a fresian but these are results from various crosses X with a TB With a warmblood With a welsh x trad mare X with a dales And with a pure traditional And the boy himself He is a fabulous all rounder, jumps, hunts, does dressage, hacks with mares and is a multiple champion in hand and under saddle having qualified for hoys and rihs 3 times. But most of all he is just a really really nice person.
