I notice that there is now no mention of the open show in May on the website. Does this mean it is no longer running? Hope not lovely show

Sorry desmond - as 2014 is our big year the Trustees have decided to concentrate on Pony of the Year and use all our efforts for that show
There will be several new classes that can be entered & two Golden Jubilee Supremes (one for In Hand & one for Ridden animals)
Qualification for these 2 supremes will require a "GOLDEN TICKET"
These Golden Tickets will be gained at all 2014 Branch Shows & the Spring Spectacular & be awarded to all the Champions & Reserves at these shows.
Entry to these two supremes will be FREE (but you will need to show your GOLDEN TICKET & 2014 membership card to enter the ring at POYS)
The rosettes & prize money will go to 6th place & there is £1000 on offer for each supreme (£500, £300, £100, £50, £25 & £25)
In recent year's the Open Show has struggled to cover its costs & has also struggled for a date that does not clash with other shows.
The situation will be reviewed for 2015, but the trustees are confident that members will like the new Golden Tickets for our Golden Jubilee Year!
So the question must be - "where will you win your GOLDEN TICKET"?
The first chances will be at the Staffordshire branch show in January & obviously LOADS of chances at the Spring Spectaular!

Oh dear, scraping the open show is a shame as it held lots of different inhand classes. I hope that all the other area shows offer a fuller range of classes not just lumping different types together.

sundayroast - sadly the In Hand classes were the least well supported at this show. The past dates in April were probably too early for many In Hand animals & the May date still did not improve the numbers. But as above the situation will be reviewed for 2015.
Most of the branch shows have a variety of In Hand classes & the Spring Spectacular has broad groups (again because of the timing of the show), so I hope you find something to suit what you wish to show.
The topic of supporting local shows has been visited on many threads and sadly if shows and/or classes are not supported they will be in danger of being lost. In today's economic climate events must at least break even.
Events take a lot of organising, usually by the same small band of volunteers, so if you have classes you want holding please get in touch with your branch now to make the suggestions for 2014 - perhaps backed up with some sponsorship to help cover the section costs.
