Can I have some recomendations for cat litter please, especially odour, Mine does not use it much, as he likes to go out, so want somthing I can leave down, for more than a few days. He was no Catsan went away for four days and he had to stay in so I diddnt worry about leaving window open in empty flat. The person checking him took out soiled everyday but it stank when I came home.

You might be better with one of the ones that clump when wet, then the wet patches can just be scooped out daily rather than sitting in the tray. Also would recommend the litter tray liners, save all the hosing out and drying the tray. You can just tie the top of the bag, lift the whole lot out and then wipe out the tray with dettox and kitchen paper.
Also you can get litter trays with a roof on and flap to go in and out, contains the odour a bit more and some have a charcoal filter in the roof. Depends if your cat will use it though and they are a bit expensive to find out he doesn't like going in it!

you can also get freshener stuff like a powder to put in the tray to make it smell nice! i got mine from tesco for about a £1! also if your cat is an indoor cat then pro plan housecat food will reduce urine odour by 20%! but obviously the food is aimed at cats kept indoors that arent as active so dont need as many calories. i use kittysand litter (silica sand crystals), it looks like little clear crystals. it works by adsorption instead of absorption. Absorption is what happens when a sponge soaks up urine. The urine remains in the sponge unchanged, and the odor still emanates from the sponge, just as occurs with other cat litters. Adsorption is a chemical interaction whereby a change of physical properties occurs. Silica sand crystals completely adsorb urine and its odour until a saturation point occurs, at which time the litter should be changed. This adsorption process also kills bacteria) it doesnt need changing as often and doesnt smell,, sounds the perfect choice for you!!!! it is also designed to stop cats dragging it around the house on their feets so also prevents mess and more smell. hope this helps. and one small bag lasts a month (less if multicat household) xx

I use the crystal type stuff - think there is a Bob Martins make but also Sainsburys do there own - really good - will last up to a month (for one cat) if you remove the droppings. I use a litter tray with a hood and never notice a smell. Although my cat is on just dry food which helps!
