Can I ask you opinion on how children should wear their hair? At what age should they stop doing the cute pig tails with bows? Do you like the loose pony tails with ribbon? Or do you prefer a neat bun with or without a scrunchie? thank you

I think little lead reins can wear the ribbons etc. and I dont mind fr doing so too but I really dont like seeing it on large breed m&ms. I have seen a few and think it looks scruffy and that a bun would look much smarter.

I think for that 'in between' stage, a single plait with a discreet ribbon looks smart.

personally i prefer a bun once past lead rein/first ridden, but do think a pony tail with a simple ribbon can work on some 13/14hds ponies!

I think a long ponytail with a ribbon looks lovely on older girls if they have got gorgeous long hair. Saw a picture recently of a girl riding a 14.2hh , I think, had beautiful golden blond hair, really did look stuning!

I agree with a bun or a nice single plait, but I come from a side saddle background and sadly detest scrunchies!!! Unless a descreet navy one to match the back of the hat - sorry!!!!!!!

I find that if I wear a bun, it pushes my hat forward and I spend the whole pushing it back, so I wear a simple pony tail with scrunchie, I am an adult ona small m&m.

Like a single pony tail or plait up to 14 .2, then bun for 15hd jockey or int.
I to detest scunchies, much better to get some ribbon .

What do you use to hold you bun together if not a scrunchie? I'm hopeless at doing hair so a step by step guide of how to create a secure bun would be good!

It depends on how long your hair is and if you have layers?

i like plaits on younger jockeys and buns on the older ones. i hate seeing girls with longer hair having it without a hairnet and just floating around i feel it does look a bit messy

im not the single plaite person, dont like it just hangs there for me, nice pig tails with ribbon for lead rein, then nice small ready made bows for up to 13, as the still children nice turned up look really neat, buns nice for evening performace..but every body to there own, it wouldnt be right if we all did the same.. but the hair needs doing properly for pig tails.........

Just produce boy babies and you wont have this problem. Hat goes on, hat comes off. Very simple!

ha ha. Only trouble is, I cant dress them in pink, so I have to dress my mare in pink instead!
Also, boys still cant get themselves dressed into show gear on their own, despite being 7 and 9. I am sure girls would do much better at this?
Other than that, boys are great and look so adorable in their outfits!

I can see it too. Your daughter looking like Worzel gummage with her hair sticking out everywhere and my boys sat on their ponies, still playing their DS's, wearing pj's and not even realising that they are in the show at all!
They really are that dopey! Takes me 30 mins of shouting, to get them dressed and teeth cleaned on a normal school day, dont even start me on show/dressage day, when I have mucked out and prepared their ponies/loaded lorry, made brekky etc.......
What it would be like to have a groom or a husband that helped....! Or even two little girls that might actually help me in some way, shape or form?
Still, as I say, I do save 30 mins of hairdressing stress! Ha!
Still bless them really, I am lucky to have boys that will a) ride at all and b) go in the ring and do their very best every time. Perhaps they are conserving their energy for the competition?

I can remember a while back i saw a little blonde girl a bay pony go into the ring with pig and red ribbons and a big fake smile. but the thing was this was 13hWHP class. And what is even better is that when she came out of the ring after having a stop. she has a big frown and says to her mum "f*****g s**t completley ruining her "nice" image. she was in the line and looked ridiculous compared to big riders.
