Looking for 3.5t horsebox and Steffen Merkel replied to a wanted ad. Has just what we wanted that should cost 15k+ for 8.3k including delivery! Wants paying with fake Google Checkout invoice, don't get caught.

Yes I sent an email in relation to a horsebox advertised on horsemart, he replied earlier with extra pictures of the lorry - he hasn't mentioned money yet but said he could deliver. I googled his name and it came up in relation to a similar fraud with a boat.

I just received this, what planet do they think we are on??!!! Hi again, As you can see, I am selling it at a low price but it has nothing to do with the it's condition. I've lowered the price because something came up and I need some cash so I am looking for a fast sale. Everything is in perfect working condition, all documents are in order, full service history, 5 months of mot and tax, no known problems, as new, just 10000 miles. I have to tell you that I'm currently out of town so I will get somebody to bring it to you if you decide to buy it but we have to close the deal through Google Wallet which was specially designed for this kind of situation. I have no one home, my cousin will be traveling from a distance to collect it and meet you so I must be sure and not put him on the road based just on words. If you are not aware of this program you should know that it will allow you to drive and inspect it before paying me. You will have a 5-days inspection period to decide whether you want to keep it or not before they release the funds to me. In this time you can even run an RAC or AA inspection. I will receive the payment from Google only if you are satisfied with it. If by any reason (it has any hidden damage or it isn't as i describe it) you can reject the deal. In this case Google Wallet will fully refund you and I will come and collect it on MY cost. Please NOTE that Google Wallet is not an online payment method, is just an third party service that will secure our deal, the money exchange will be done at your local bank. You can read more at how-to-use-google-checkout.co.uk or we can use ebay if prefer, their protection program works the same. If you like it and want to inspect it for 5 days at your place, please confirm your name so I can register the sale and proceed. I'll also need your post code so I can calculate the distance. I had very similar email to above a few months ago but instead of google wallet wanted eBay account & PayPal details, otherwise the same. Told him to jog on...

They also tried to sell a single horse trailer over the weekend. Asking for payment via eBay. I raised it as fraudulent.

alsom on preloved a £1900 ifor williams 511 only 3 yrs old, someone called conniesmith, def scam as phone line (land) not recognised, and wouldnt answer when challenged by message

If you want some pointers on how to avoid horsebox scams go to wwww.traveltwohorseboxes.com There is a general warning notice above current stock and a more detailed account in the "scam" section found in the menu.
Please report scam adverts on web sites so that they can be removed. You are all obviously quite savvy but you would be surprised by the number of people who do get caught and lose substantial amounts of money.

Hmm 3 years ago was caught by one of these unscrupulous fraudulent scams for a trailer to the tune of £2500!!!!! Police failed to upturn anything other than an address in London shocking how they are still around please be cautious. Anyone who lives on an oil rig, is deaf, unable to speak to etc and just contacts by text or email....hard earned and saved money, is not a priority to the police in my experience.

i too have receieved similar emails to the ones above! and when they send the same email to the same email address about 3 different boxes, supposedly registered in 3 different areas.............. hmmmm genius!
